A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam

Welcome Back to Disney! Sorry, for the delayed post this week. I usually try to post every Thursday, but I was extremely busy the past few days. So, that is why you are just seeing this post now. But, don't you worry. To make up for my late posting this week, I will be posting three posts next week. So, be on the lookout for those (Hint hint, it's Cheetahlicious). Now, I hope you enjoyed my two posts last week where I created A Ranking of Every Song from Starstruck and a list with Every Song from Camp Rock, Ranked. Obviously, I'm not just going to rank all the songs from the first Camp Rock without also ranking the songs from the second movie. So, that is why this week I created A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.

When Camp Rock 2 first aired on Disney Channel I wasn't the biggest fan of it, because I loved the first one so much and the second one just didn't hit the same for me. Camp Rock 2 also came out during a rough time in my life. So, maybe that's also why I didn't get into it as much, or appreciate it as much, as I did with the first Camp Rock. But, like anything Disney, this movie really helped me to forget what I was going through in my life for a second and just enjoy time with family watching a good movie with good music. What really made this movie what it is today is the music, of course. So, that is why I wanted to do this ranking.

A brief note before we begin: this ranking includes all the songs that were included in the movie, including the extended version, as well as from the soundtrack. Also, when I am ranking these songs, I am also ranking the performances of them in the movie. So, not just the song itself, but the overall scene/performance of it in the movie. Now, let's get into A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.

(from last to first)....

#15 Rock Hard or Go Home

This is my least favorite song from Camp Rock 2 just because it's the most forgettable one from the movie. As this song just plays in the background during the water balloon fight scene. I honestly don't even remember if this scene was actually in the movie when it originally aired or if it was just a deleted scene that was only included on the DVD, because I don't remember this scene at all. It's definitely the shortest song that plays in the movie and the most rock and roll song from the whole Camp Rock franchise. I also just think this song does not go with the movie at all. I feel like they could have definitely chosen another song for this scene. This song is just way different from all the others, and not in a good way. So, that is why it goes at the very bottom of this list.

#14 It's Not Too Late

Before creating this list I had never heard this song or seen this scene from the movie. Then, I realized it's only because it was a deleted song/scene that was just included on the DVD. But, it was still included on the soundtrack, as well. I'm ranking it lower because compared to Mitchie's other solo songs in the movie, this song/scene is not my most favorite. I love the beat and lyrics of the song and that it's actually pretty deep. It's a very soft, gentle, and emotional song. But, it's definitely something we already saw her do in the first Camp Rock. As it shows her at the piano at one point in the scene singing this song, just like a flashback to the first movie when she was singing "This Is Me" acoustically at the piano. It's still a good song, but it's just not better than the others in this movie. Having said that, I can kind of understand why they cut it from the movie, but I also think it could have been included just to add to Mitchie's struggle of feeling like she set up everyone at Camp Rock for failure.

#13 Walkin' in My Shoes

This is another song/scene that I had never heard or seen before, because again it was only included on the DVD. But, I do think it is a pretty good song/scene from Camp Star that deserved to be in the movie and would have still made sense for the movie as a whole. I mean, sometimes, the more songs the better. Am I right? There's backup dancers with wigs, dancing, multicolored lights, smoke effects, sparkles, and a good beat, all things that make for a great song and performance. Even though this is not my favorite song that Camp Star sings in the movie, it's still a good song and scene that needs more recognition. I also ranked this song/scene a little higher than the previous song/scene just because I like that it's more upbeat and a little more interesting to watch and listen to than the previous song I mentioned. It definitely keeps your attention. Any song that gets my head banging I love, and this song does that.

#12 You're My Favorite Song

This song is not my most favorite, but it's still a great song/scene from Camp Rock 2. During this scene you get to see Shane and Mitchie just being the cute couple that they are. This song plays while they are canoeing and just enjoying their time together at camp. It's a really sweet scene and the meaning of the song is really sweet, as well. It's another really gentle and soothing song. I also like that it's a duet between the two characters Shane and Mitchie. It's both of them singing the song about and to each other, not just one of them singing it to the other. This song also reminds me of something that would be on Tangled and the scene itself reminds me of the scene from The Little Mermaid when they are in the boat.

#11 Different Summers

This is another great song that Mitchie performs in the movie. This is another song/scene that I just found out about because it was only included on the DVD and the soundtrack. I was kind of shocked it wasn't in the movie originally, because out of all the songs that were only included on the DVD, I think this one is the best and definitely deserved to be in the movie the most. It would have made the most sense in the movie and I don't think we got a true acoustic Mitchie solo/performance like this one anywhere else in the movie, which you always need. I really like how Mitchie in this scene is just singing on stage with her guitar staring directly at Shane throughout the whole performance, because she dedicated the song to him. It's just another really cute and sweet moment between the two characters in the movie. I also love that the other three girls (Peggy, Caitlyn, and Ella) were included during the performance. I love the meaning of this song and the whole vibe it gives off. It's just a very feel-good song.

#10 What We Came Here For

When Camp Rock 2 first premiered, and I heard this song and watched this scene in the movie for the first time, it wasn't my favorite. I definitely understood why they lost to Camp Star. I felt and still feel like this song could have been better, especially for it to be their finale song (well, technically their pre-finale song). I wanted their Final Jam song/performance to be like their "We Rock" song/performance from the first movie, where everyone was included and each person had a singing role. Instead, during this scene in Camp Rock 2 you only get to hear and mostly see Shane and Mitchie singing front and center. They should have included everyone more. Watching and listening back now, this song/scene is not as bad as I once thought it was, but it's still not the best song/scene from the movie. I liked how they still had everyone from Camp Rock doing different things in the background but this song/scene just needed something a little more and not just Shane and Mitchie singing a duet. Overall, it is just an "okay" song and performance.

#9 Fire

When I was younger I probably would have rated this song much higher, because I used to love it that much. I still love this song/scene, but it's still not my most favorite from Camp Rock 2. However, it was this song/scene when I knew it was going to be hard for Camp Rock to compete with Camp Star. Luke definitely brought more hardcore dancing and, shall I say "fire", to this movie, overall. This song/scene brought a new excitement to the movie. It is definitely one of the most unforgettable songs/scenes from Camp Rock 2. The only reason I ranked it a little lower on this list is because it does get kind of repetitive. But, again, it's still a great song/scene from the movie. Also, does anyone get Jason Derulo vibes from Luke throughout this whole movie? No, just me. Okay.

#8 Heart & Soul

This song/scene in the movie is more funny than amazing. But, that is why I love it. I love anything that can make me laugh. This is another classic song/scene from Camp Rock 2 of the Jonas Brothers just being the Jonas Brothers (excuse me, I mean Connect Three). You see them enjoying the song and having fun which makes you enjoy listening to it and watching it. I love the old school rock and roll vibes, as well. It's just a really fun song to sing and jump around to. One of the funniest parts being when the spotlight goes on Shane (Joe Jonas) and he does his little solo/speaking part. I love any song that just makes you feel good and makes you smile and this song definitely does just that. It's also really catchy, as well. I also love the meaning of the song as well as the respect to music history they give in this song. This song/scene is just overall a great representation of how amazing and meaningful music and singing is to someone.

#7 Tear It Down

This is another one of my favorites and one of the most unforgettable songs/scenes from Camp Rock 2. I loved this song/scene as a teen then and I still love it now. From the matching red, black, and white outfits, to the dancing, the lyrics, and just everything about this song/scene is a whole vibe. It is no surprise why Camp Star won over Camp Rock's performance. This one is just better, in my opinion. It is also my favorite song that Camp Star performs in the whole movie. There is nothing I don't like about this song. It can seem too repetitive, but it's a good-repetitive song.

#6 Brand New Day

Okay, so I really do love this song/scene from Camp Rock 2 way more than I did when I first watched this movie. I definitely had a hard time deciding whether to rank this higher, but ultimately I felt it belonged at #6. This is the starting song of the whole movie and for good reason. I mean the title says it all. I love how Mitchie starts out singing the song slow then it picks up and gets more upbeat and fun, because you don't expect it. I love that they dance and sing around the whole camp ground which makes it more entertaining and fun to watch since they are not just in one place the whole time. This song/scene just makes you wish you were there dancing, singing, and having a blast with everyone. This is definitely one of the more nostalgic feeling songs from the movie and it's also another very catchy song from the movie. Once you hear it you can't get it out of your head. Overall, it's a bright and fun intro song/scene that leaves you feeling good.

#5 Wouldn't Change A Thing

Does anyone else just automatically think Tik Tok instead of Camp Rock when they hear this song? I know I do. No, but for real this is one of the most memorable songs/scenes from Camp Rock 2 for so many reasons. Even though it doesn't really make sense (I mean comparing yourselves to Venus and Mars) it's still a great song. It's very catchy and just one of those songs I automatically think of when I think of Camp Rock. It kind of gives me "This Is Me/Gotta Find You" vibes with it's iconic chorus..

Like fire and rain (Like fire and rain)

You can drive me insane (You can drive me insane)

But I can't stay mad at you for anything

We're Venus and Mars (Venus and Mars)

We're like different stars (like different stars)

You're the harmony to every song I sing

                                                    And I wouldn't change a thing

So, some very romantic and sweet lyrics. The two characters are also singing the song separately and when their vocals overlap the sound is just amazing. Just like in the "This Is Me/Gotta Find You" mashup from the first Camp Rock. This also happens during the night time, which makes it all the more great. I mean who doesn't love a good, over-metaphorical love song that takes place at night?

#4 This Is Our Song

Before creating this list and going back to watch and listen to these songs/scenes again, I remembered this scene specifically from the movie but I didn't really remember the song that went with this scene. Then when I watched and listened to it again I fell in love with this song. I have a lot more appreciation for this song than I ever did before. Again, I love that this song takes place at night by a campfire. I also love how everyone is singing together and it's not just Shane and Mitchie like usual. My favorite part of the song being the "Na na na's". I never wanted them to stop singing the "Na na na" part. In fact, I never wanted this song to end. It's so good and it makes me feel the most nostalgic and warm and happy. It just gives me all the feels. This is the song that Camp Rock should have sang to beat Camp Star during the Final Final Jam. I love the overall message of the song, as it's all about being in the present moment surrounded by friends and just singing about that and realizing there's nothing better. In other words, a simple message about the fact that fun and inclusion always win in the end. This song/scene just makes me want to get around a camp fire with a whole bunch of people and sing this song at the top of my lungs.

#3 Introducing Me

This is another one of my most favorite songs from Camp Rock 2 because it's really catchy, unique, and fun to sing. The song itself is also very cute and romantic. I mean I think every girl out there had high expectations for a guy after watching this scene. I mean writing a song introducing yourself then singing it to someone is the ultimate way to get anyone's attention. I also love that you get to see Nate get a chance to shine a little bit more with this song/scene. I love how he starts the song slow then it gradually gets faster and faster. I just love the simplicity, the buildup, and everything about this song; and you have to admit, the song is pretty clever. Definitely an unforgettable moment in Camp Rock and Disney Channel history. Although it's kind of a cheesy song, I still love it.

#2 It's On

This is another great song/scene from Camp Rock 2 and a favorite of mine. I've always loved this song/scene from the movie. I don't know why, but it just gets me excited every time I watch it. This is the part of the movie when the two camps are trying to show each other up with their amazing vocals and sick dance moves. My favorite part of this scene is when they go in-between the stands and dance. I was actually going to put this song/scene from the movie at #1, but because I feel like it lasts a little too long and starts to feel monotonous, I decided to put it at #2. Don't get me wrong, I still really love everything about this song/scene from the movie. I love how chaotic it is, all the dancing and back-and-forth between the two camps, the lyrics, and just the whole vibe of the song. I also love that everyone was included in the singing and dancing. I love a good dance battle scene. This scene is one of the most interesting and exciting scenes to watch from Camp Rock 2, for sure. I always can't wait for this scene to come on when I am watching the movie. I also still remember when Disney Channel used to play this song/scene from the movie during commercial breaks. So, it's always been etched in my mind. This is just a pretty epic and iconic song/scene from Camp Rock 2.

#1 Can't Back Down

This is my favorite and the BEST song/scene from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. This is basically the Camp Rock 2 version of "Work This Out" from High School Musical 2. This is the song/scene in the movie that Mitchie leads when Camp Rock is on the verge of shutting down. The choreography is impressive and the message of the song is very inspirational and encouraging. It is definitely the song/scene that stands out the most in the movie and is therefore the most memorable. This is the BEST Mitchie solo in Camp Rock 2 and one of the top ten best songs from the overall Camp Rock franchise. Once you hear Mitchie hit that line, "We can't, we can't back down" and that beat comes in, you instantly get hype for the rest of the song/scene. I love how synchronized the dancing is in this scene and it was actually good dancing and not cheesy dancing. This is another song that I automatically think of when I think of Camp Rock. I also still remember Disney Channel always playing this song/scene during commercial breaks, as well. It's truly another iconic song/scene from Camp Rock and Disney Channel history. Also, the fact that they included sign language into their choreography is so amazing and definitely makes this the most unique song from the movie and the franchise as a whole. I actually didn't realize they included that before, until I just went back and re-watched this scene from the movie. This is also the most serious song from the movie, but it also makes you kind of laugh because they act like they are going to war or something, when in reality they are just trying to win back Camp Rock and beat Camp Star in the process. This song's message is really deep and powerful. My favorite part of the song is when she sings...

                                                        Don't get me wrong

                                                        I don't like confrontation

I'd rather we all just get along

                                                        Music should be undivided, united

That, along with the other things I mentioned, is why it is the BEST song/scene from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.

Well, that concludes A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. I really enjoyed going back to listen and watch these songs/scenes from Camp Rock 2, because I haven't seen the movie in forever. So, it was definitely a lot harder for me to decipher which songs I liked more because I am not as familiar with them like I was with the songs from the first Camp Rock. After doing this list though, I now want to go back and watch the movie just to hear these songs again and see if my opinion about the movie as a whole has changed since I had last seen it. Although I still prefer the first Camp Rock songs over the Camp Rock 2 songs, I still think all these songs that I mentioned here are good (except #15). Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam is definitely a must-watch DCOM and the songs are a must-listen, as well. So, if you haven't seen the movie, I highly suggest you go watch it. If you've already seen Camp Rock 2 and have heard all these songs already, I would love to know your favorite songs from the movie. So, let me know in the comments below and come Back to Disney next week for more!
