A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from The Cheetah Girls 2

Welcome Back to Disney! I hoped you enjoyed my post yesterday where I created A Ranking of Every Song from The Cheetah Girls. Today, I am back with another post that is even more Cheetahlicious than the last. To continue with my ranking of songs from all of the Cheetah Girls movies, I will be giving you A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from The Cheetah Girls 2. Although, it's really hard to choose my favorite between the first and second Cheetah Girls movies, I do have to say that the Cheetah Girls 2 has and will always be my most favorite. Mainly because, I mean...hello...it takes place in Spain. Need I say more. No, but for real this movie came out when Disney Channel was at its peak. Plus, there is more great music, new love interests (cute Spain boys), new friendships, more drama, and it takes place during summer. So, what's not to love about this movie? I also remember watching this movie as a kid way more than the other two from this trilogy. Don't get me wrong though, the first Cheetah Girls movie still slaps and still holds a very special place in my heart. Like I mentioned in my last post, the Cheetah Girls showcased music from various cultures, especially in this movie. As there is a Spanish flair in almost every song that they sing/perform in the movie. That is why I wanted to do this ranking and of course because I love the songs from this movie so much.

A brief note before we begin: this ranking includes only the songs that were included in the movie, even the extended version. Just not any others from the soundtrack. I also did not include the song titled, "Do Your Own Thing" from the movie, just because I wanted to just rank the songs from the movie that were an actual performance scene, and the scene that this song plays in is just a montage of different scenes..well...with the girls just doing their own thing, without each other. So, when I am ranking these songs I am also ranking the performances of them in the movie. Not just the song itself, but the overall scene/performance of it in the movie. Now, let's get into A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from The Cheetah Girls 2.

(from last to first)...

#10 It's Over

This is my least favorite song from the Cheetah Girls 2. This song plays during the scene after Galleria decides she wants to leave Barcelona and take a train to Paris to meet with her dad to then go back home to New York, because out of the four girls she is the only one focused on the competition. This song greatly reflects the drama the girl group has experienced in the past and in the present.  Galleria takes the lead on this song, but then towards the middle Chanel comes in and then later Aqua and Dorinda. Just as the title suggests, this song talks about how the Cheetah sisters might not be standing together for too much longer. This is by far the most emotional and depressing song from the movie. As I said before, I prefer more happier songs, so that is one reason why this song is not my favorite from the movie. Plus, it's really just Galleria singing it instead of all the girls, so that is also why it's not my most favorite. The scene itself is really funny actually. It makes me laugh because some of the things they do are just so extra. But I do love to laugh, so that is a good thing about this scene in the movie. I also love Chanel's part of the song and her outfit. This is also a more 90s, R&B type of song, which I love that type of music. Also, I do enjoy hearing the vocal harmonies and layering in this song.

#9 Cheetah Sisters (Barcelona Mix)

Okay, so I wasn't sure if I was going to include this on the list just because I said that I wasn't going to include any extra songs that were on the soundtrack and not in the movie. But, since they technically did sing this song twice in the movie, I felt I needed to include it on this list. The Cheetah Girls sing this song once at the beginning of the movie when they are singing a snippet over the phone in Galleria's bedroom and then again when they get to Barcelona and audition for the Barcelona Music Festival competition. Although I prefer the original version of this song from the first Cheetah Girls movie, this remix is still better than the previous song I just mentioned because it's iconic. No matter what remix version you hear of this song it's always going to be a bop. Again, like I mentioned in my last Cheetah Girls post, the message of this song is everything and more. This mix definitely adds a more Spanish flair to the original. But, it ultimately ranks lower on this list because I don't like it better than the other songs from this movie and their voices in this version kind of seem off with the music at some points in the song. However, again, it's still a great song that still holds up to this day and never gets old.

#8 Cherish the Moment

This is actually a song/scene that I had never seen or heard before until recently. I know..crazy right? That's because it was only included on the extended version DVD as the alternate ending. The Cheetah Girls perform this song during Chanel's mom's wedding. It's actually such a sweet and beautiful song and the scene itself is great, too. I actually don't understand why they didn't just keep it in the movie. They could have at least had it playing while the ending credits were still rolling. The song gives me like a nostalgic, warm and happy feeling. I love the message of the song, as well. As the title suggests, it's all about cherishing every moment and living for today, which I love. Definitely always a good reminder to anyone listening to this song. I specifically love the "La, la, la's" and the chorus, when they sing...

Cherish the moment, live for today (Live for today)

We all get lost, just don't lose your way

We all love the sun, but we still need the rain

So what good is it to complain?

                                             It don't change a thing?

Also, does anyone else think of "Walk Away" from High School Musical 3: Senior Year when they hear this song. No. Just me. Okay.

#7 Dance With Me

Okay, so I actually was shocked myself that I ended up putting this song pretty low on this list. When I was a kid I was way more obsessed with this song/scene from the movie. I mean I still remember when they used to play the music video of this song with Drew Seeley and Belinda during Disney Channel commercial breaks. Don't get me wrong, though, I still love this song and scene from the movie, but after re-watching this movie recently and re-listening to all the songs, this one is not my most favorite anymore, especially when compared to the other songs in the movie. But, it's still a good song. First of all, the fact that Drew Seeley sings this song, is one of the big reasons why I love it. I mean after watching Another Cinderella Story, I used to have a big crush on him. But, I also love that this song is a duet, with Belinda who plays Marisol in the movie singing alongside him. As a kid, I actually never put two and two together that the girl in the music video singing with Drew and the girl (Marisol) from the movie were in fact the same person. I think just because her hair was a different color in the music video than it was in the movie. I not only love this song but I also love this scene in the movie because you get to see Dorinda doing what she does best. Dancing, but with a cute Spaniard. It's a really romantic and cute moment between the two characters in the movie. This scene in the movie makes you want to learn how to tango and the song has the same effect. As it's a great, feel-good dance song. Definitely, one of the most memorable songs/scenes from The Cheetah Girls 2 and the trilogy as a whole.

#6 Step Up

This is another classic Cheetah Girls bop that never gets old. I love this song/scene in the movie. However, for some reason I actually always forget that it's in the movie. But, when it comes on I get hype instantly. This is definitely one of the catchiest songs in the movie. I love the beat, the lyrics, the adlibs/runs that they do during the song, just EVERYTHING. I also love the dancing in this scene. This song/scene just gives off the best energy. The Cheetah Girls sing this song during the scene when they are rehearsing for the competition. I love how you just see them having the most fun and the most energy during this scene. I also love the part when they are dancing to the music in front of the mirror and then the mirrors open up and they end up performing the rest of the song on stage in front of a huge crowd at the club (the Dancing Cat). It also makes you laugh with some of the dance moves that they do. So, this song/scene is very entertaining.

#5 Amigas Cheetahs

I had a really hard time deciding whether to put this before or after "Step Up" because I really love "Step Up", but the overall performance and message of this song is better. I used to not really like this song or care for this scene as much in the movie, but I have a newfound appreciation for this song/scene in the movie now. This is the last song/scene in the movie. As the Cheetah Girls sing/perform this for the Barcelona Music Festival competition. I love the message of this song. As it's all about the importance of friendship (friends always being there for one another no matter what) and not letting anyone/anything come between friends. It also talks about inclusion and being yourself. As they sing, "No matter where we come from we can be ourselves/ and still be...one". There's just a lot of great positive messages that you can get from this song. It's definitely a different sound and style of singing and dancing that the Cheetah Girls have ever done. As I would say this song has the most Spanish flair and influence in it, compared to all the other songs that they sing in the movie. I do think that it is a great finale song that ends the movie, as it comes full circle. Definitely another iconic song/scene from the movie. I also love how it starts out slow and then gets more upbeat and then stays that way throughout the performance. I also love how they included Marisol and the other characters as well as the audience into their performance. This is just a very fun song to sing and dance along to. Also, I love Chanel's outfit during this performance, as well. Just had to add that note.

#4 A La Nanita Nana

I'm not the biggest listener of Spanish music, just because I don't speak the language so I never know how to pronounce or understand what they're singing. But, I do have my fair share of favorite songs that are in Spanish and this is one of them. In fact, this and "Who Says" (Dices) by Selena Gomez, are the only two Spanish songs that I can actually sing. This is the song that Chanel sings with Marisol (the Cheetah Girls competitor) at the Dancing Cat. It's a very simple song and scene, which is why I love it. This song is a lullaby, as it's very calming, soft, and gentle to the ears. So, it can make you want to fall asleep, but it doesn't. Especially, while watching this scene in the movie. I always loved this scene in the movie, even though there's not much to it or the song. As they are just at a club at a small table singing this song with a crowd of spectators around them. The song starts out with Chanel singing, then Marisol joins her. Their voices sound beautiful together. You also get to hear the other Cheetah Girls, Aqua, Dorinda, and Galleria sing the "oohs" in the background. This has always been a memorable song/scene from The Cheetah Girls 2 and one that I always look forward to seeing. This song/scene just makes me want to learn Spanish even more every time I watch it. This is also a song that you can listen to over and over again, and it never get old.

#3 The Party's Just Begun

This is one of my favorite and one of the most unforgettable songs/scenes from the Cheetah Girls 2. As it's the opening song/scene of the whole movie, and a great one at that. The Cheetah Girls sing this on stage at a graduation party, as they just finished their junior year and it's before summer is about to begin. So, this song perfectly encapsulates that end of school, beginning of summer vibe. It's so catchy that you'll be singing it throughout the rest of the movie. Again, the Cheetah Girls harmonies and adlibs during this song/performance are the best thing ever. I also love the Acapella part when they slow it down but then they bring the whole song straight back up again and it's fire. Each verse they sing just gets better and better. This song/scene is just everything. I also love the dancing, their outfits, and the meaning of this song. Again, it gives another great, positive message to viewers and listeners. As it's all about just having fun and anticipating the good times that are ahead. It's one of the most fun, celebratory song that they sing in this movie. This song is the perfect pick me up to boost anyone's energy level. It also makes me feel very nostalgic as I remember all the great memories watching and listening to this song as a kid. This song never gets old and still holds up today, which is also why it's one of the best. This song also perfectly symbolizes the journey that the Cheetah Girls take throughout this movie. The party begins in New York and ends in Spain.

#2 Why Wait

I LOVE this song and this scene from The Cheetah Girls 2. This is the song that Marisol sings at the Dancing Cat when the Cheetah Girls just arrive and are there to just watch the performers at the place. It's actually a very good song for it not to be sung by the Cheetah Girls. I definitely hype this song up way too much but I really do love this song/scene and I think it's highly underrated. I don't know what it is about this song/scene but it gives me all the feels. I just want to be Marisol singing this song on that stage. I love the whole message and vibe of this song. As it's all about not hesitating or waiting to live your dreams. That it's worth whatever risk(s) there might be along the way, if you know what you wanna be. Now is always the right time. Your future is what you make it. I could go on and on cause there are so many great, positive messages spewing throughout this song, which is why I love it so much. I also love the whole setting of the scene when she performs this song with all the giant pink and white balloons, the confetti, the lights, the chair, her outfit, EVERYTHING. Honestly, it was really hard for me not to put this song/scene as #1. This song/scene is definitely a very close #1, though. I always look forward to watching this scene in the movie just to hear this song. This song/scene just makes me so happy every time I watch it. It's such a fun scene to watch and it definitely makes me feel very nostalgic, as well.

#1 Strut

This is the BEST song/scene from The Cheetah Girls 2 and of course my most FAVORITE. This is the song/scene that always first comes to mind when I think of this movie and just the Cheetah Girls in general. This is the song the Cheetah Girls sing after they've arrived in Barcelona and have done some shopping, where they then stop to rest at a Cafe. They soon hear a mysterious guitar player (Angel) playing the instrument which then prompts the girls to start singing. They strut, sing, and dance around the entire city as Angel (the guitar player) accompanies them around Barcelona. Speaking of Angel, he has an awesome vocal line in the song in Spanish. It really adds texture and harmonic interest to the piece. I just love EVERYTHING about this song/scene in the movie. I love the meaning of the song a lot. As it's just all about strutting your stuff to free yourself and your mind and achieve your dreams. I just don't have words for how much I love this song/scene in the movie. I have loved it ever since the movie first premiered on Disney Channel and I still love it today. It is another one of those songs that never gets old. It's the most catchy, fun, and entertaining song/scene in the movie. There's nothing I don't love about this song/scene. I just want to strut through the streets of Barcelona every time I watch this scene from the movie and listen to this song.

Well, that concludes A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from The Cheetah Girls 2. I had a lot of fun creating this list. As I just recently finished watching this movie with my little sister and I am still hooked on all of these songs. I really do love all these songs in this movie, so it was a little difficult for me to rank these songs from my least to most favorite. But, I feel like I finally got it down to which ones I truly think are the best. If you haven't seen The Cheetah Girls 2, I highly suggest you watch the movie when you get the chance. As it was included in my Top Ten Disney Channel Original Movies list for a reason. If you have seen the movie and have heard these songs, I would love to know which one is your favorite from the movie. So, let me know in the comments below and come Back to Disney tomorrow for more Cheetahlicious content!
