A Definitive Ranking of EVERY Song from Aaron Carter's Oh Aaron Album

Welcome Back to Disney! πŸ‘‹πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ‰I hope you enjoyed my last post on A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from Aaron Carter’s Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) Album, and that you’re ready for some more NOSTALGIC FUN down music memory lane.πŸŽΆπŸ’Ώ ‘Cause today, as promised in my last post from yesterday, we’re continuing with Aaron Carter’s discography and talking all about his THIRD album, Oh Aaron. So, let’s get into it!πŸŽ‰πŸ’ΏπŸŽΆ πŸ€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ§‘πŸ€Ž

Oh Aaron is the third studio album by American teen pop singer (at the time) Aaron Carter, that was released in the summer of 2001.πŸŽ‰On August 7, 2001, to be exact. It was his second album released through Jive Records. Oh Aaron features three collaborations with No Secrets and Aaron’s older brother Nick Carter. Despite receiving mixed reviews and not being as successful internationally as his second album (Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)), Oh Aaron did find success in the U.S., peaking at #7 and being certified Platinum by the RIAA, and subsequently becoming Aaron’s SECOND TOP 10 album and SECOND platinum-selling album.πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»Oh Aaron was accompanied by a concert DVD of the same name, which was released on March 26, 2002, and included footage of his 2001 concert in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as well as music videos and interviews. Random, but fun fact, Play Along Toys also created an Aaron Carter action figure in conjunction with the album’s release.

Three singles were released from the album. “Oh Aaron”, which is the title song, opening track, and was the first single, which features Aaron’s older brother Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys as well as pop girl group No Secrets. The second single, was “Not Too Young, Not Too Old”, which also features his brother Nick Carter, and “I’m All About You” which was the third and final single of the album. In which the music video can also be seen on the Oh Aaron: Live in Concert DVD.

As I mentioned briefly before, Oh Aaron received mixed reviews from critics. Again, not that I like to shed a light on the negative reviews, but AllMusic’s Stephen Thomas Erlewine commended Aaron’s voice for sounding less childish but criticized his performance of kid-friendly songs with adolescent overtones and sexual themes, and the producers for utilizing “cut and paste commercialism” with various genres throughout the track listing, saying it comes across as “disturbing pandering”.πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ» Erlewine also described this album as “crass, a word that doesn’t quite seem to apply, even after the deliberate repeated references to the Backstreet Boys (him and that Nick Carter, they’re brothers, you know), until the album reaches it’s conclusion with an unlisted 11th track that is nothing more than young Aaron plugging a forthcoming home video and his songs for the Nickelodeon movie Jimmy Neutron, taking the time to mention the release date for both the record and the movie, helpfully mentioning that the soundtrack includes songs not found on any other album. Gee, thanks for the tip, Aaron.”.πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»I don’t agree with anything that reviewer said about this album. In regard to the 11th track, yes, it is mostly just an ad for a movie but it’s GENIUS MARKETING. You can’t fault Aaron for that. Again, it just shows how Aaron Carter was ahead of his time. Well, really one of a kind, because I haven’t seen any other artist/singer/musician include promo in their albums like Aaron does in his. Which, honestly, they could take a hint from Aaron Carter and do just that if they were smart. So, let’s bring it back.

Beth Johnson from Entertainment Weekly said about the album, “Pre-teens across the country can rejoice: 13-year-old cutie-pie Aaron Carter has released his second sing-along album in less than a year. Apparently, A.C. (as he name-checks himself) knows what his fans like: cheery BSB/‘N Sync-style raps, puppy-love ballads, and songs with “You” in the title (there are four of them). As harmless (for kids) as it is unlistenable (for adults).πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»I agree with her first couple statements, but not her last.

The A.V. Club, in their look at the Least Essential Albums of 2001, awarded Oh Aaron the title of Least Essential Awkward Adolescence, with Stephen Thompson saying, “[A]ppearing to have aged about five years since 2000’s Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) and now possessing a voice that’s gone from chirpy to unsure, the singer/rapper seems ill-suited for inching his way into artistic relevance as he begins to sprout facial hair and think about muscle cars.”πŸ‘ŽπŸ»Okay, very weird and odd review. To which again I totally disagree with. I mean, first off, how can adults be talking about a KID like that? Judging his growing voice and future looks? So uncalled for. I mean, this might not be my favorite album of Aaron Carter’s or his best, but that’s only if I were comparing all his albums together. It’s still a pretty great album, and I enjoyed listening to it even now as an adult for this post. In other words, it's not as bad as those reviewers are making it out to be.

Again, that’s why reviews like that don’t really matter (at least to me), because the fans know what’s up when it comes to their favorite artists. Which is why I’m creating this post to give this album all the LOVE and APPRECIATION it deserves. Again, even though it may not be Aaron’s best album, it still deserves some praise. 'Cause, clearly those music critics didn’t know what they were listening to.

When it comes to my memories of this album and how I got introduced to it. Basically, like with all of Aaron Carter’s early to mid-2000s albums, I was too young when this album came out to know that it even existed, because I was only four-years-old at the time. And, as I also mentioned in my last two posts, my older sister eventually got two of Aaron Carter’s albums on CD, but Oh Aaron was not one of them. Which I wonder why?πŸ€”So, I didn’t find out about this album until much much later. Which was when I was 18 or 19 and went through my Backstreet Boys phase, as I’ve also mentioned before in my last two posts. When I was watching all of their old music videos, interviews, etc. etc. on YouTube, as well as some of Aaron Carter’s old music and stuff. I do remember coming across this album (Oh Aaron) at the time, but I only remember first discovering and LOVING “I’m All About You”. In other words, I don’t remember going through and listening to this whole album at the time. Maybe I skimmed through some of it. But I definitely don’t remember listening to every song all the way through back then. I just know I got obsessed with that one song from this album (“I’m All About You”) and its music video. And I also do remember watching the music videos of the songs he did with his brother, “Not Too Young, Not Too Old” and “Oh Aaron”. So, all that to say, that this was like my FIRST TIME EVER listening to this whole album. Again, to my recollection. The only songs I recognized and knew before going into this, besides “I’m All About You”, was “Not Too Young, Not Too Old”, and “Oh Aaron”. Therefore, I was very curious and excited to listen to every other song on this album, and I definitely came out of this loving more than just those three songs, and I actually fell in love with a few other songs over a couple of the ones I already knew going into this. And now I just can’t wait any longer to share my ranking of these songs with you. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s get into A Definitive Ranking of EVERY Song from Aaron Carter’s Oh Aaron Album!πŸŽ‰ πŸ€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ§‘πŸ€Ž πŸŽΆπŸ’Ώ

Just a brief note before we begin: There were a few bonus songs that were included on other international editions of Oh Aaron that were not included on the U.S. version. Five bonus songs to be exact. And I couldn’t not talk about them. So, I did add the five bonus tracks to the list of songs from this album, and ranked them amongst all the other songs that were included on the U.S. edition of Oh Aaron. So, instead of just the original 11 songs, this ranking includes 16 total songs. I hope that makes sense. Now, for real this time, get up on ya feet, because this is one for the summer (even though technically it’s no longer summer😊), and ain’t nothing gonna break my stride, we’re gonna keep it movin’, jump on the fizzy, come follow me, if you do you’ll never lose the kid in you, throw your hands up now, let the music take control, this is how we roll, we’re not too young and we’re not too old, leave it up to me and let’s finally get into A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from Aaron Carter’s Oh Aaron Album! πŸŽ‰πŸ€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ§‘πŸ€Ž πŸŽΆπŸ’Ώ

Well, that concludes A Definitive Ranking of EVERY Song from Aaron Carter’s Oh Aaron Album!πŸŽ‰πŸŽΆπŸ’Ώ πŸ€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ§‘πŸ€ŽI really enjoyed getting to go back and listen to this album, and I hope that you enjoyed this post as much as I did creating it. The NOSTALGIA was still very REAL when it came to listening to these songs, even though, as I mentioned earlier, it’s not an album I grew up knowing or listening to. But now I can say otherwise. 'Cause I’ve now heard this album all the way through more than once in order to create this post. And, although I still believe this album is not one of Aaron Carter’s best, it’s still good and a must-listen for anyone and everyone who hasn’t heard it. Especially if you’re a fan of Aaron Carter, NOSTALGIA, early 2000s music, and just feel-good music in general.

Out of all of Aaron Carter’s albums that I listened to for this little series of posts, the songs on Oh Aaron were the easiest to rank, because there aren’t a lot of good songs and they are all pretty different. Whereas with his other albums every song was pretty much a BANGER and pretty similar but in the BEST way. But with this album there are some hits and misses. And maybe that is also because some of the songs were just ads for movies or tv shows. And then the songs with his brother weren’t as great as I used to think they were for other reasons that I mentioned above. Smart marketing, YES, but smart writing not so much. But this album did give us the BEST and MOST ICONIC song that Aaron Carter ever released which is “I’m All About You”, so I LOVE and APPRECIATE this album for that reason alone. And the other songs in my TOP 4 are good, too. But I definitely had to warm-up to liking them. ‘Cause I definitely did some rearranging of my ranking of those songs last minute.

I wanted to LOVE this album, but there wasn’t anything much different or new when compared to his previous albums, and again, ALL the songs weren’t great. Besides a lot of the songs on this album being mostly ads for other things, this album I feel also has the most talking/rapping in majority of its songs, and I do prefer the songs where Aaron sings more rather than raps. I feel like his best fast talking/rap songs were on his second album (Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)). Speaking of his fast talking/rapping songs, I never realized that that was Aaron Carter’s thing. I don’t know why, considering I saw him in concert when I was a kid, but I never realized he was like mostly a rap singer. Which sounds so crazy, but I just didn’t remember that. Probably because the songs I always remembered and liked from him were his more ballad, singing songs. But yeah, Aaron Carter’s more fast talking/rapping is what made him him and set him apart from any other young teen pop singer. Which, don't get me wrong, that's not a bad thing at all. I just didn't realize that before, and prefer the less talking/rapping songs.😊

Again, even though this isn’t my favorite album of Aaron’s, I still enjoyed listening to it for what seemed like the FIRST TIME EVER. A lot of the songs, even the bad ones, did make me smile, laugh, and just feel all the good vibes. But, being honest, I would only go back to listen to only a few songs from this album. And now, I can see why this was the one album my older sister didn’t have of his. Well, it wasn’t the only one she didn’t have of his, but of the three probably most well-known albums by Aaron Carter, this is the one she didn’t have on CD. Although, after listening to some of the songs on this album, a lot of the songs actually sounded very familiar, like I had heard them before. And even the album cover art looked very familiar like I had a memory of my sister having the CD of this album. So, maybe she did have it at one time? Maybe it just got lost at some point?πŸ€” I don’t know. But I definitely will be asking her about that.

Anyways, I will also say, the songs that Aaron did with his brother on this album were sweet and fun to watch and listen to. Even though, as you can tell from where I ranked them on this list, they aren’t my most favorites, but I LOVE when siblings get together to do stuff like this. That’s always SPECIAL and RELATABLE. And that’s also another thing that makes this album UNIQUE from his other albums, because it was the FIRST album of Aaron’s that included his brother singing/rapping with him, and not just on one song but TWO

Overall, I had a FUN time listening to this album, and I now just can’t wait to get to talk about Aaron Carter’s next album because it definitely gets better than this one and is another TRULY ICONIC and UNFORGETTABLE album. So, make sure you hit that follow button to get notified when my next post goes up, comment down below what your favorite song(s) is/are from Oh Aaron, and come Back to Disney soon for more FUN, NOSTALGIA, and just GREAT Aaron Carter MUSIC! πŸ‘‹πŸŽ‰ πŸ€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ§‘πŸ€Ž πŸŽΆπŸ’Ώ✌️

P.S. Also, I just want to say, I do not excuse or support the harmful and problematic things Aaron Carter may have done. I have compassion for what he went through and appreciate his talent and music, and I ultimately just choose to remember the good Aaron that was, before all the bad.
