Welcome Back to Disney! πππI hope you enjoyed my last post on A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from Aly & AJ’s Insomniatic Album , and I hope that you’re ready for some more NOSTALGIC FUN down music memory lane.πΆπΏ ‘Cause today, and for the next four days, I’m talking all about the ICONIC discography from the ONE and ONLY Aaron Carter. Someone who many people know or refer to as the Prince of Pop.πYes, before Justin Bieber there was Aaron Carter. And as the kids these days like to say, Aaron Carter walked so Justin Bieber could run. And I’m saying this as a Belieber since 2009, but you gotta give credit where credit is due, and Aaron Carter definitely paved the way for many young pop stars, like Justin Bieber, to come. I mean, I wasn't even a teen yet in the early to mid-2000s, but even I know that Aaron Carter was THE Justin Bieber of that time. But, enough about Justin Bieber, because this post is all about Aaron Carter and his music.ππΆπΏ
As you know, if you’ve been following along with all my blog posts so far this year, I started a series of posts talking about a lot of albums from Disney Channel stars. And obviously, even though Aaron Carter was a part of a few things featured on Disney Channel in the early 2000s, he technically isn’t considered a “Disney Channel star” just because he wasn’t a mainstay on the channel like, say Miley Cyrus or Selena Gomez, and he wasn’t known/discovered from that. All that to say, that this post and my next four posts aren’t technically Disney Channel-related, but that’s why I created the & More section of this blog, which is where all of these Aaron Carter album posts will be going for future reference.πI just needed to talk about these albums on here somewhere because, FUN FACT, Aaron Carter was my FIRST EVER concert and his music definitely had an impact on me at some point growing up. Plus, I mean, this blog is all about NOSTALGIA, and Aaron Carter’s early to mid-2000s music is definitely VERY NOSTALGIC and just so worth talking about. So, in memory and celebration of Aaron Carter, let’s get into the album that started it all! π€❤️πππΏπΆ
Like I mentioned briefly before, Aaron Carter’s self-titled debut album Aaron Carter was originally released in Europe on December 1, 1997 (the year I was bornπππ₯³) and was then re-released the next year with a new song and a remix, and it released in the U.S. in the summer of 1998.π It was recorded between the years 1996 and 1997. In some European countries, the album reached the TOP 10 and it reached #12 in the U.K. .ππ While the album did not chart on the U.S. Billboard 200, it did manage to reach #17 on the U.S. Top Heatseekers Chart, and sold more than 100,000 copies in the U.S. .ππ
Three singles were released from the album: a cover of the Jets’ 1985 song “Crush On You” in 1997, “Crazy Little Party Girl” also in 1997, and “I’m Gonna Miss You Forever” in 1998. While other songs were released as limited edition singles in some regions. “Crush On You” and “Crazy Little Party Girl” went TOP 10 and 20 respectively in Australia, while both of those songs went TOP 10 in the U.K. .πππIn Germany and Sweden, all three singles were in the TOP 20, with “I’m Gonna Miss You Forever” peaking at #24 on the UK Singles Chart.ππ A cover of the 1963 song “Surfin’ USA”, by the Beach Boys, was later included on the re-release edition of the album, and it was also released separately as an EP, and went TOP 20 in Germany and the UK.ππ The album sold more than one million copies worldwide.ππ “Shake It” (featuring 95 South) was also released as a single in New Zealand and Australia, and the song charted in both countries; at #44 in New Zealand, and below the TOP 50, at #66 in Australia.ππ Like I’ve also said many times before though, the numbers, awards, and all that stuff don’t really matter (at least to me they don't), but they were still accomplishments for Aaron so I thought I’d include those little facts anyway.π
When it comes to this album and my memories associated with it, there aren’t that many, and that’s only because I was literally a baby when this album was released. I only knew that Aaron Carter even existed in 2005, which was the year when my older sister (shout out to you Ariel) was a fan and had gotten a couple of his later CDs (albums which I will be mentioning in the next coming daysππ), and therefore I also became a fan listening to those later albums of his with her back then, and then that was also the same year when I went to my FIRST EVER CONCERT at the Six Flags where I lived to see Aaron Carter perform. And that concert was after he had released all his early and mid-2000s albums. So, I was definitely late to being a fan of Aaron Carter, because I didn’t know about him until 2005. But, that was also just because of my age and when I was born. He wasn’t really my generation. He was more-so my older sister’s. But I liked his music whenever I heard it. I also remember seeing him at some point on the ICONIC Lizzie McGuire episode when I was a kid, too. Which, I don't remember if that was before 2005 or after because I also just mostly caught the very end and reruns of that show. But again, of course, just Aaron Carter being my FIRST CONCERT EVER is mostly what I knew him from and I will always remember that moment in my life the most, because it was definitely a highlight for me even at just eight years old. So, all that to say, I definitely knew about Aaron Carter as a kid but I was just still too young at that time to be a massive fan. If that makes sense. I wasn’t really into boy pop stars or actors or anyone of that sort until I grew up a bit. Which goes back to Justin Bieber, because he was more around my age and more of my generation, and one of my first “celebrity crushes”.ππ
But, going back to Aaron Carter, after seeing him in concert in 2005 I have no memories of actually listening to his music too much after that. Plus, he wasn’t releasing much music after that year anyways. So, there was a big break there, and it wasn’t until I was 18 or 19 when I started my Backstreet Boys phase discovering and listening to all of their old music and watching all of their old interviews and stuff on YouTube that I remember also then going back to watch some old Aaron Carter videos, as well. And that’s when I came across the ONLY song from this album (Aaron Carter’s debut album) that I knew before doing this series of post, which is “Crush On You”. But, the funny thing is, is that I didn’t even know even at that time that that song was part of a whole album he put out. I just thought it was a song I kept seeing him perform quite a lot in the videos I saw on YouTube at the time. So, I didn’t even know this album existed until just recently. I thought the CD my sister had Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) was his first album, but it’s clearly not. So, that’s my history when it comes to Aaron Carter, his music, and being a fan of it all. Which again, is one of the reasons why I was SO EXCITED to create this post and talk about Aaron Carter’s discography because, before doing this, I hadn’t heard EVERY song or album from him. So, this was fun for me, because I not only love NOSTALGIA but I also LOVE discovering new music, and this was just that for me. So, I can’t wait any longer, let’s finally get into A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from Aaron Carter’s Debut Album!ππ€❤️πππΆπΏ
Just a brief note before we begin: Aaron Carter released an EP with six songs on it titled "Surfin’ USA" in 1999, but I just included the one title song from that album as part of this album and ranking of songs, because that EP was nowhere to be found on YouTube. Plus, majority of the songs on that EP were just remixes of songs from this album, Aaron Carter. Therefore, nothing really new. And the one other song on the EP was just a song featuring a bunch of other artists besides Aaron. It wasn’t really an Aaron song. But I had to include “Surfin’ USA”. So, again, I just included it as a bonus song from this debut album. I hope that makes sense.πNow, for real this time, GET WILD, everybody just SHAKE IT, and let’s into A Definitive Ranking of Every Song from Aaron Carter’s Debut Album! ππ€❤️πππΆπΏ

Well, that concludes A Definitive Ranking of EVERY Song from Aaron Carter’s Debut Album!ππΆπΏπ€❤️ππI really enjoyed getting to listen to these songs and hear this album for the FIRST TIME EVER, and I hope that you enjoyed reading my thoughts about this album here, as well.π A lot of the songs on this album felt VERY NOSTALGIC, even though I had never heard this album before, but it definitely still made me feel those vibes through and through for some reason. In all the BEST ways, though.
Like I said before, I LOVE discovering new music (even though this is technically “old music”), and by creating this post I did just that. And, not going to lie, I will definitely be listening to these songs again someday. Although, I will take a bit of a break from them just because since July, which is when I started listening to these Aaron Carter albums, I’ve already listened to this first album of his like three times all the way through. So, that’s enough for me for now. But that should also say something about how good this album truly is, because it really is GOOD, especially for being a kids album. But also, because its more of a kids album is why you won't see me listening to it all the time. Though, again that doesn't mean its bad, just not really for my age demographic. It’s definitely a must-listen-to album if you’ve never heard it, though. I would suggest anyone listen to Aaron Carter at least once. Which, after going through this post now, you have heard all the songs, but I would recommend going back to listen to these songs again sometime. Especially whenever you just need a boost of NOSTALGIA or just some feel-good music. ‘Cause majority of the songs on this album are GREAT. They’re not all BANGERS, but most of them are.ππ
Speaking of the songs from this album, the songs were actually quite hard to rank. Especially all the more ballad-y songs, and there are quite a few. More than I thought. Which again, I LOVE because ballads are my FAVORITE, as you can tell from where I ranked the more ballad-y songs on this post. There are actually some really cute, fun 90s songs on this album. Although majority of the songs are all about love, and he was so young, too young (in my opinion), to be really worrying about all of that stuff, but it just makes the songs all the more funny and cute, because I know it was all just for fun.
My TOP 4 songs on this ranking are really interchangeable, though. ‘Cause the songs that I have in my TOP 4 are all SO GOOD and pretty similar, which made it harder to rank than all the rest. This album was actually such a 90s vibe, and like I mentioned before, it’s Aaron Carter’s ONLY album that came out the year I was born, which is pretty cool and special, too. And again, even though I was only a baby when this album came out it still gave me all those nostalgic 90s vibes while listening to it for the first time. A lot of the songs also for some reason actually made me quite emotional even the ones that weren’t sad, but a good emotional. This album also, although released in the late 90’s, definitely gave me some 80’s, New Kids on the Block vibes (which makes sense because Aaron covers a New Kids on the Block song on this album) as well as some Jackson 5 vibes. So, if you like that type of music you’ll definitely LOVE this album for those reasons, too.ππ
Overall, for this being Aaron Carter’s debut album it’s a GREAT debut album. Couldn’t have really been much better. This album is definitely Aaron’s most bubblegum pop record, which makes sense since he was so young and such a kid when he made it, but that’s also what makes this album that much more unique and special from all his other albums that came after, because his next few albums are definitely a bit of a shift from just that bubblegum pop sound, but in the best way. There are just a few other added elements to them. Which is why I’m just SO EXCITED to finally get to talk about his next album and all the albums Aaron released after the next album, because they definitely get even better. One, maybe not so much, but I’ll get to that when we get to it. So, make sure you hit that follow button to get notified when my next post goes up, comment down below what your favorite song(s) is/are from Aaron Carter, and come Back to Disney soon for more FUN, NOSTALGIA, and just GREAT Aaron Carter MUSIC! ππ€❤️ππππΆπΏ✌️
P.S. Also, I just want to say, I do not excuse or support the harmful and problematic things Aaron Carter may have done. I have compassion for what he went through and appreciate his talent and music, and I ultimately just choose to remember the good Aaron that was, before all the bad.
