*full reflections on each song coming soon!(:
Welcome Back to Disney!πππI hope you enjoyed my last post on A Definitive Ranking of EVERY Song from Hannah Montana: The Movie Soundtrack, because today we’re continuing with this Month of Miley blog post series, and talking all about the FOREVER ICONIC and UNFORGETTABLE Hannah Montana 3 soundtrack.πΆπΏ But, as always, before we get into the AMAZING songs from this soundtrack, I just want to give you a brief history about it. Along with some of my memories of this soundtrack. How I came to know and LOVE it. So, trade those fiddles for those bubble-grunge guitars, and let’s get into it!π»πΈπΆπ
Hannah Montana 3 was the soundtrack album for the third season of the hit TV series Hannah Montana.πΆπΏπΊ Thirteen of its fourteen tracks are performed by Miley Cyrus, but are credited to the titular character she plays on the show, Hannah Montana. Another main actor on the show, Mitchel Musso, who plays one of Miley Stewart's best friends, also contributes one song to the soundtrack.π While recording artists Corbin Bleu (aka Johnny Collins) and David Archuleta appear as featured vocalists.ππ Like with the earlier soundtracks from the franchise, Hannah Montana 3 is primarily a pop rock record, with additional influences from teen-pop and country-pop musical styles.πππ©·πAt the time, this soundtrack received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who seemed to appreciate the combination of upbeat tracks and mid-tempo ballads. In fact, it debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, selling about 137,000 copies.ππ “Supergirl” was released on CD and in digital markets, as the first single off the soundtrack on July 7, 2009. While “Ice Cream Freeze” was released as the soundtrack’s second single in Italy on July 31, 2009.
Miley recorded songs for the third season of the TV show and for Hannah Montana: The Movie, the feature film based on the show, during 2008 and 2009. Repeating “Let’s Do This” and “Let’s Get Crazy” for the movie soundtrack and the show’s. Interestingly enough, several producers and songwriters worked on songs for the soundtrack. Including American Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi, who co-produced and co-wrote “He Could Be the One”, “Mixed Up”, “Supergirl”, and “Don’t Wanna Be Torn”. The writing team who wrote “The Best of Both Worlds”, Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil, also contributed to the soundtrack with the song “Ice Cream Freeze (Let’s Chill)”. Colleen Fitzpatrick (Vitamin C) was a writer on “Let’s Get Crazy”, and Tim James was a writer on “Let’s Do This”, which was apparently, originally written and recorded by country singer Adam Tefteller before it was recorded by Miley as Hannah. And the only song on this soundtrack not to feature Miley’s vocals is the track “Let’s Make This Last 4Ever”, which is a song performed by her Hannah Montana co-star Mitchel Musso. There are also two duets on the soundtrack that were originally recorded by only Miley: “I Wanna Know You” with David Archuleta and a new version of “If We Were A Movie” with Corbin Bleu, a song from the FIRST Hannah Montana soundtrack that was also used in the season 2 finale episode.
Like I briefly mentioned before, Hannah Montana 3 was released as a physical CD and as a digital download on July 7, 2009.πΆπΏThe deluxe edition sold exclusively to the iTunes Store, and the physical CD contained access to 8 music videos taken from a concert filmed in California for the third season of the show. While in other countries the physical copy consisted of two discs, one for the songs and the other for the music videos. The music video for “It’s All Right Here” premiered on Disney Channel in November 2008, and the track peaked at #24 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles Chart.πThe music video for “Let’s Do This” premiered on Disney Channel on December 13, 2008, and the song debuted and peaked at #23 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles Chart.π While “Let’s Get Crazy” was first used in Hannah Montana: The Movie, and featured on the movie’s soundtrack before being used in the series and added to the Hannah Montana 3 soundtrack. As part of promotion for the film, a music video for the song also premiered on January 19, 2009. “Let’s Get Crazy” debuted and peaked at #57 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it peaked at #26 on the Canadian Hot 100, which was Hannah’s highest chart effort in Canada at the time.ππThe song was also featured on the compilation album, Disney Channel Playlist, and as a karaoke version on Disney’s Karaoke Series: Disney Channel, Vol. 1. It was also the only song from the soundtrack to be featured on Miley’s solo tour in 2009, the Wonder World Tour.
The song “I Wanna Know You”, which is a duet from the soundtrack with David Archuleta, was first released to Radio Disney on May 2, 2009. And the track debuted and peaked at #74 on the Billboard Hot 100.π The music video for “Ice Cream Freeze (Let’s Chill)”, which was the FIRST single from Hannah Montana 3, premiered on Disney Channel on June 5, 2009. And the song itself premiered on Radio Disney on June 20, 2009. The song and it’s corresponding video became digitally available in the iTunes Store on June 20, 2009 as part of the Radio Disney iTunes Pass in Week #2, which was the only single to be released before the release of the soundtrack. “Ice Cream Freeze (Let’s Chill)” peaked at #87 on the Billboard Hot 100, at #57 on the Canadian Hot 100, and at #90 on the UK Singles Chart.πππ
The track, “He Could Be the One”, was used for promotion with an accompanying music video for the ICONIC and UNFORGETTABLE hour-long Hannah Montana episode of the same name.ππThe song peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, beating Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed”, and at #97 on the Canadian Hot 100.ππ Making it Hannah Montana’s highest chart effort (beating “Life’s What You Make It” by 15 spots), first TOP 10 chart entry, and highest debut, internationally.πππ “Just a Girl” also premiered on Radio Disney, and its music video premiered on Disney Channel on June 30, 2009. “Supergirl” was the second single and premiered on July 2, 2009. It also made a chart effort coming in at #5 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Chart, just below “Don’t Wanna Be Torn”.πThe song was released as the only official single internationally with a CD single of the song being released to German markets on August 28, 2009. With “Every Part of Me” as the B-side. And it peaked at #42 in the country.π Although it officially premiered on Radio Disney on July 2, 2009, it was released for actual airplay in November. “Every Part of Me” premiered on Radio Disney on September 16, 2009, and the music video premiered on October 6, 2009. “Don’t Wanna Be Torn”, another song from the soundtrack, premiered on Radio Disney on July 1, 2009. The same week they were promoting the album’s release. And it charted at #4 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Chart.π
When it came to promotion for the album, as briefly mentioned before, Miley as Hannah Montana performed a live, taped concert in Irvine, California in October 2008, where she performed songs from the third season of Hannah Montana for the purpose of having footage for the TV show and for other promotional purposes such as music videos. In fact, promotional music videos for the songs “Every Part of Me”, “Supergirl”, “”Let’s Get Crazy”, “Just a Girl”, “Mixed Up”, “Ice Cream Freeze (Let’s Chill)”, “Let’s Do This”, and “It’s All Right Here” were all taken from footage of the concert. The first five videos premiered daily on Disney Channel between June 29, 2009 and July 3, 2009, as a promotional countdown to the album’s release. Radio Disney also premiered the songs from the soundtrack daily from June 29, 2009, up until the album’s radio premiere on July 4, 2009. Two days before the album’s release on July 6, 2009.ππ
Disney Channel also used various commercial segments to promote the album. Including a segment in which Hannah Montana co-star Jason Earles (aka Jackson Stewart) played a charades-type game titled “Hannah Montana: Sing Whaaat”. A game in which Jason attempts to act out the names of titles of the songs from the soundtrack for contestants playing the game. And these commercials aired weeks before and after the release of Hannah Montana 3. A game called Rock the Beat was also made to promote the soundtrack on Hannah Montana’s official website. A game that featured eight songs from the soundtrack. Walt Disney Records, apparently, also advertised the soundtrack outside of Disney by sending commercials to teen-oriented channels.
As mentioned before, at the time, Hannah Montana 3 received generally favorable reviews from music critics. But again, who really cares what the critics say? ‘Cause the REAL Miley/Hannah fans KNOW how GREAT and ICONIC this album truly was and still is, because it still holds up and is a soundtrack I could listen to any day, all day.ππ
Plus, as I also mentioned briefly before, the soundtrack debuted and peaked at #2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart.π Having sold 137,000 copies with a good amount being purchased online due to it charting at #5 in the Top Digital Albums and at #18 on Top Internet Albums.πππHannah Montana 3 also debuted in the top spot on other charts in the U.S., such as Top Kid Audio and Top Soundtracks. In fact, the franchise actually replaced itself at #1 on the Top Soundtracks Chart at the time, as Hannah Montana: The Movie was previously in the top spot, but then descended to #2. And Miley was at the first two spots for several weeks.ππ Although in its second week, Hannah Montana 3 slid down one spot to #3 on the Billboard 200 Chart, with 73,000 copies sold. But, at the same time, it stayed at the #1 spot for Top Kid Albums and Top Soundtracks.ππ And in Canada the soundtrack also debuted at #2.π Hannah Montana 3 also debuted and peaked at #40 in Norway and at #27 in Mexico.ππThe week after its debut in Mexico it even then ascended to the 26th spot.π
However, like I’ve said before when talking about these albums, those are all just words and numbers. That chart stuff really means nothing to me, but I still thought it was all worth noting here .Though, those facts did not make me like and/or enjoy this soundtrack any more or less than I already did. Nor did it affect my thought process when ranking the songs on this list. Also, having said that, no matter where this album or the songs themselves ranked on the charts back then, I didn’t know or care about any of that either when I was a kid hearing these songs for the first time and listening to the soundtrack. ‘Cause I just LOVED the show and LOVED the songs no matter what anyone else said.ππ I was a big fan of Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana at the time, and like with all of Miley’s Disney music discography, all of the songs on this soundtrack are AMAZING. There really is not one bad song, and they all still hold up today. I still LOVE them ALL a lot.ππThat’s why I wanted to create this post, because any time that I get the chance or opportunity to talk about this soundtrack, I’m VERY HAPPY to, and I'm always going to.π So, that’s what I’ve done. As I mentioned in my last post, I relistened to this whole soundtrack over again and chose to rank each of the songs from it from what I like and believe to be the LEAST and MOST BEST. Although, again, there really are NO songs that I dislike on this soundtrack. ‘Cause they’re literally all SO GOOD and SO NOSTALGIC. So, this ranking is just for fun, for the sake of just wanting to rank things.ππ
Now, before we officially get into my ranking of the songs from this soundtrack, I just have to share my earliest memory when it comes to this soundtrack. ‘Cause besides seeing the music videos/concert performances of certain songs from this soundtrack during commercial breaks when watching Disney Channel as a kid, I still remember the FIRST time that I ever listened to this soundtrack and heard these songs. I’ll never forget it because it was a very special, fond memory. A GREAT moment in time.ππ I was twelve years old and my family and I were on vacation in Florida driving around to places and looking for things to do. And I just remember us stopping at some store…I’m pretty sure it was just a Walmart or someplace that sold CDs…and that’s when my parents bought me the new Hannah Montana 3 CD.πΆπΏ And I remember when we got back to the car putting it in my little CD player that I carried around with me all the time, especially anytime we went on vacation, and I remember blasting it in my headphones in the very back seat of the Trailblazer and singing the songs out loud, not having a care in the world for anything except for the new CD I just bought (Well, that my parents boughtπ), as we drove around to wherever we were going.
So, I still remember that day so vividly and I’ll never forget it because it’s actually the only Miley/Hannah CD that I got out of town. From a place where I didn’t live, which is pretty cool and fun and special in and of itself. And I’m sure I listened to that CD any other chance I got during that family trip. ‘Cause, I don’t remember much else about what we did during the days after that. Just that day when I got that Hannah Montana 3 CD. Every time I listen to this soundtrack it just instantly takes me right back to that day and to some other memories of when I first heard these songs. And I actually still have the original CD case of the soundtrack, but I lost the actual CD that was in it years ago, somehow.ππ’ Which I’m still wondering how it went missing, but that’s an answer I’ll never know at this point.π€
Yep, so that’s one specific memory I have when it comes to this soundtrack, and I of course have many others when it comes to me just growing up listening to the CD, dancing and singing along to it. Other specific memories for each song that I have I’ll probably mention in more detail once we get to them in the ranking. I mean, once I lost the CD sometime during my early teen years, I couldn’t listen to the CD version of this soundtrack anymore, but I was always still listening to the songs on YouTube or whatever other way I streamed music that I didn’t have on CDs at the time. This soundtrack TRULY NEVER GETS OLD. It was a BANGER then and it still is now.ππ It’s a soundtrack that I listened to as a kid, teen, and even as an adult it’s still enjoyable to listen to. 'Cause GREAT music is just GREAT music, and this soundtrack is just that.ππSo, what are we waiting for? IT'S ALL RIGHT HERE, so LET'S DO THIS, LET'S GET CRAZY and get into A Definitive Ranking of EVERY Song from the Hannah Montana 3 Soundtrack!ππΆπΏπππ©·ππ

Well, that concludes A Definitive Ranking of EVERY Song from Hannah Montana 3 Soundtrack!πππΆπΏ I really enjoyed getting to go back and listen to these songs once again, and I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did creating it. This was definitely one of the toughest Miley/Hannah soundtracks/albums to rank because ALL of the songs are SO GOOD. Literally not one bad song. But this is my ranking of them as of now, and I feel pretty good about it. In other words, I don’t think I’ll be changing my mind about where these songs rank anytime soon. Plus, I mean, my TOP 3 have ALWAYS been my TOP 3 favorite songs from this soundtrack. So, nothing has changed when it comes to that.π Again, even though I’ve ranked these songs from this soundtrack from what I believe to be the LEAST and MOST BEST, or my LEAST and MOST FAVORITE, ALL of the songs on this soundtrack are TRULY GREAT. I just had to be really picky and critical just for the sake of this ranking. But, again, it’s all just for fun. ‘Cause all the songs on this soundtrack are UNSKIPPABLE. It’s definitely one of the TOP 3 BEST Miley/Hannah soundtracks/albums, which is says A LOT. So, I definitely suggest to anyone reading this, even though I just kind of made you re-listen to these songs through this post, still go give this soundtrack another listen. If for nothing else, at least for nostalgia sake, because it’s always worth it. Plus, let’s just make this last 4Ever. (Ha, see what I did there?ππ) Anyway, hit that follow button so that you get notified when my next post goes up, and come Back to Disney tomorrow for more GREAT MUSIC from Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana!!!πππΆπΏπππ©·ππ✌
