TOP 10 DANCES FROM SHAKE IT UP

Welcome Back to Disney! I hope you enjoyed my last post where I ranked the Top 3 Songs From Every Hannah Montana Album. This week I thought I would rank the Top 10 Dances From Shake It Up. If you remember from my Top Ten Disney Channel Shows post then you know that Shake It Up was and still is one of my top three favorite Disney Channel shows. Mostly because of the dancing that I feel made the show. I was obsessed with this show and learning every dance they performed on the show. This show made me want to be a dancer. In order to create this post I had to go back and watch every dance from the show (which I didn't mind at all) and now I am really in the wanting to dance phase again. I can go on and on about why I love Shake It Up, but to save you time I will just let the ranking of the dances below show you why this show was what it was and still is to this day (at least to me). So, let's get into it.

A brief note before we begin, this ranking only includes full stage/performance dances with the main characters CeCe and Rocky. In other words, the dances I chose have CeCe and Rocky in them in some way, whether they are the main focus or dancing with other characters. As there were guest performers and some dance scenes on the show that got interrupted with dialogue which I just chose not to include. I also didn't include any dance scenes from the movie Shake It Up: Made In Japan. So, just dances from the series itself. However, if you would like for me to include any of those in my ranking just let me know in the comments below. Now let's get into the list of the Top 10 Dances From Shake It Up

(from last to first)

#10 Beat Of My Drum from the episode "My Bitter Sweet 16 It Up"

I really love this dance from the series mainly because of the sparklers. I mean there's definitely other reasons why I love this dance performance from the show but the added sparklers really made this dance to me. It was unique from all the other dances on the show in this way. But the song is also great, upbeat, and fun. I also really loved the main characters outfits in this dance. Yes, the outfits the dancers wear for each dance helped determine their overall ranking, because I mean outfits are part of what make an overall dance what it is, as well. I just really love this dance because it happens during a birthday party scene and I love birthdays and parties. Also, the changing neon colored light drums (sorry I don't know the technical terms for them) also added another cool element to the dance, as well.

#9 Total Access from the episode "Reality Check It Up"

This is another one of my favorite dances and one of the more creative and unique dances from the show, because they start out as posing in a painting then they come out of the painting (unexpectedly) onto the dance floor and start dancing. The song is very catchy and meaningful. I don't know this dance just really gets to me and makes me feel something that the other songs don't, especially at the beginning of the song. From the outfits, to the song, to the dance itself, everything just comes together perfectly and makes this one of the best and most unique dances from the show.

#8 Turn It On from the episode "Shrink It Up"

This is another one of my favorite dances from Shake It Up because it is one of those that when you hear the song come on instantly you know that it's going to be a great dance and it makes you want to get up and dance along. It's just a really cute and fun dance. It instantly makes you happy. I really like the part of the dance when they line up and do the in-and-out head movement thing (again, I don't know the technical terms for it). The outfits that they wear are more simple but go along with the dance and song very well. The dance is simple and not too crazy or over the top. Overall, this dance just makes me happy and that's why I love it and the song that goes along with it has a really good message, as well.

#7 School's Out from the episode "Break It Up"

This is another one of my favorite dances from the show and probably the longest because it is a great summer-themed dance and the outfits and props makes you excited to watch it. Plus all the dancers seem like they are having the most fun during this dance performance. There are even a few improv parts during the dance. It's one of the more fun and happy dances to watch. It's just a stand out dance for me and one that always comes to mind when I think of Shake It Up. Even though it's not one of the most difficult dances they have ever performed it is still one of the best, in my opinion.

#6 Right Here from the episode "Show It Up"

This is also one of my favorite dances from Shake It Up because it takes place at a talent show, the song is very upbeat and fun, and the dancing is great. It is also a really fun dance to learn (as I tried to do when I was younger). I also like that they included another character (Ty) in the dance as he brought a whole other element to the dance. This is just another great stand out dance from the show. Again, once the starting beat drops you know that it's going to be good.

#5 Bring the Fire from the episode "Shake It Up, Up And Away"

This is one of my all time favorite dances from Shake It Up because it is another one of the more unique dances from the show, simply because of the neon outfits and lights. Okay the dance is great, too. Seriously, it is. It's a really fun and cool dance. It seems to be one of the more difficult dances that they did on the show. I really like the song and the outfits, as well. They are some of my favorites. I really like the part of the dance when they sit on the floor and do the moves. That's one of my favorite parts.

#4 TTYLXOX from the episode "Judge It Up"

This is another one of my favorite dances from Shake It Up because first of all I love the song. I mean who doesn't remember the mixed up/mashed up music video of this song. I always get hype when this song comes on. The gigantic cell phones with the emojis on the dance floor during this performance is everything. Very unique. I love their outfits in this dance, as well. I also love that they included the other character Tinka in this dance so it wasn't just the two main characters. The moves in this are great, as well. Overall, it's a really cute and fun dance to watch and to learn.

#3 Not Too Young from the episode "Age It Up"

I LOVE this dance from the show because the dance comes from one of my all time favorite episodes from the show and the outfits, the song, and the dance moves are just everything. It is one of the more harder dances to learn (trust me I've tried many many times but haven't perfected it yet). I wanted to put this dance first on my ranking but the main characters CeCe and Rocky were kind of more of the backup dancers in this dance. They weren't really the main dancers like in all the other dances, but I still love this dance a lot. It's one of the best from the show. Again, when the beat drops you know it's going to be a great one.

#2 Dancing for My Life from the episode "Doctor It Up"

This is another one of my favorite dances from Shake It Up because I love the choreography. The song really fits the dance well. Every time the beat drops it just keeps going and going throughout the dance. If you just see this dance for the first time you might be confused about why the characters are wearing scrubs but you get it if you've seen the episode. So, the outfits might not be the most appealing but it's still a great dance. Sometimes the outfits don't have to make the dance. That's why this dance takes the #2 spot. It also features another character (Ty) that raps part of the song for the dance. So, if you like rap (which I do sometimes) then you would love this dance, too. This dance really gets me wanting to get up and dance along which is why it is one of the best.

#1 Something To Dance For from the episode "Apply It Up"

This is my MOST FAVORITE dance from the Shake It Up series because it's a totally different style of dance than they normally do on the show as it is a lyrical dance. I loved the song played during this dance way before I even saw this episode of the show (I mean hello the Something To Dance For/ TTYLXOX music video mashup) and once the episode came out I was obsessed with that, too. This is also one of the more longer dances which is another reason why I love it so much. Every time I watch this dance it makes me kind of emotional, in a good way, because something with the song and dance just gets to me. It's another song and dance that hits something in you to want to dance, as well. As I try to learn it every time I see it, but can never get the leg lifts (LOL). Overall, even though this dance is not the most upbeat or has the most amazing costumes, the simpleness of it really makes me love it even more. Plus, if you know me you know I love more emotional, ballad songs, anyways and this dance has that.

Well, that concludes my list of the Top 10 Dances From Shake It Up. There were a few dances that I really wanted to include on this top ten list but sadly they didn't make the cut. Although, it was really hard to pick my top ten because there are so many good dances from the show, I feel I chose all of the ones that really make the show what it is to me. I'm curious to know if these are also your favorite dances from Shake It Up if you've seen the show and if you haven't seen the show, I suggest you go watch these amazing dances and episodes now (no pressure, though). Let me know in the comments your opinions and come Back to Disney next week for more!
