Speaking of this being the fourth blog post for my Back to MK&A series, I hope you enjoyed my last couple of Back to MK&A posts (here and here) where I rewatched and ranked EVERY episode from The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley, as well as EVERY song from The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley👧👧📺📼🎶 So, go check those out if you haven't already, because those were definitely some of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE posts that I’ve ever done for this blog. And today’s post is just as GREAT. If I do say so myself.😊It will definitely be…hint, hint…a PARTY.😉🎉That’s right, as you could already tell from the title of this post and that little obvious hint I just gave you, in honor of Mary-Kate and Ashley’s birthday today I thought it would be the perfect time to go back and rewatch, reminisce, and talk all about the ICONIC, OH-SO NOSTALGIC, and TRULY UNFORGETTABLE, You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashely’s video series.👧👧📺📼So, put on those party hats and dancing shoes, because I’ve got everything you could ever need right here. Ahhh, I’m SO EXCITED that I finally get to talk about this musical party series. ‘Cause I’ve wanted to create this post for SO LONG now and I just can’t believe it’s finally here.😊 I know, like I mentioned last time, I shouldn’t be this excited talking about an old kids series, but for this post I can be, because that’s what this blog is meant for. For a little trip down memory lane, back to what I grew up loving, watching, and listening to as a kid/tween/teen. All so I can share my thoughts and opinions about them here with you, and to just feel that NOSTALGIA again. Like with The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley video series, I also grew up with this party series…Well, a bit of it. So, I just have to talk about it all at least once, and share my LOVE and APPRECIATION for this video series, here, once and for all.💜🩷🧡

For those of you who did not grow up loving pretty much all things Mary-Kate and Ashley, and therefore have no idea what this musical party series is that I speak of, then I’ll just give you a brief history about it. And for those of you who have seen these videos and already know the history of them, you can just skip past this part a little.👍😊 But, before I get into the history of this musical party series by Mary-Kate and Ashely, I’ll let you know a little bit about my history with them as a fan. In other words, how I came to know about this musical party series.😊 

I, of course, wasn’t even born yet when the first couple videos from this series was first released. So, I didn’t know that these videos  even existed until I was five-years-old, when my sisters and I received our first Mary-Kate and Ashley VHS tape. Yeah, that one. The one I’ve talked about quite a few times now (see pic below). Like I’ve detailed before, it was 2002, and it must have been around Christmastime, when my family and I’s next door neighbors, who were also good friends of my parents at the time, came over and they gifted us Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Christmas Collection VHS.🎄📼📺👧👧👧That VHS tape consisted of three episodes. One episode from Mary-Kate & Ashley's You’re Invited series, and two episodes from The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley.👧👧📼🎉🎈🔍💼✏📜📞🕵📺 Like I’ve also said many times before, I’ll never forget that moment and day (well, night) when my sisters and I were gifted that VHS tape. I remember my sisters and I putting that VHS in the VCR player and watching it immediately after our neighbors left. It’s always been a special fond memory that I’ll never forget, because that VHS was not only one of the very FIRST pieces of Mary-Kate and Ashley merch that I owned (even though it was for my sisters AND I to share, but it was technically still mine to have, too), but now that I think about it, that VHS tape was also the FIRST TV or movie-related thing that  I had ever seen that starred Mary-Kate and Ashley, because I was too young at the time where I wasn’t watching Full House on TV every day, or at all. In fact, to my memory, I actually didn’t know about Full House until like a couple of years after that. So again, that’s SO CRAZY to me every time I think about that, because I’m a HUGE Full House fan, ever since I first saw it as a kid. So you would think that that would have been my first introduction to Mary-Kate and Ashley content, them as actresses, but it wasn’t.🤯 But speaking of that Christmas VHS tape, I do still have it (as seen in the pic below).😊📼📺 Though, like I mentioned in my last post in this series, sadly the VHS in that picture is not the exact, ORIGINAL one that my sisters and I were gifted when I was five,  because I had to repurchase another one when I was in my later teens, because the original one…let’s just say, got lost later on, when my parents got divorced and my sisters and I had to move and all that stuff.😞😢 But original or not it’s still the same one. 

So, yeah, my sisters and I received that video with a couple of episodes from The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley and only ONE episode from this party series on it when we were kids. And then for some reason, I don’t know why, but we never asked for or received any more of this series of videos on VHS or anything as a kids.🤔 So that ONE episode that was on that specific VHS tape that we did receive as a gift around Christmas was the only You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s episode that I knew about for awhile. Until I was a little older, still a kid, and I do remember my parents letting my sisters and I each choose a video to rent at this knock off Blockbuster store near our house once, and I remember choosing a VHS of the You’re Invited series that had more than one of the episodes on it.👧📼📺 But, I remember only specifically watching some of the "Mall Party" episode from that tape in the basement of my childhood home. So, I didn’t watch all of that video then, because I remember just fast-forwarding through most of it. For some reason I guess I wasn’t as into any of the parties that wasn’t the Christmas party that was on that one VHS my sisters and I owned. Which is interesting. But that’s also a memory I’ll never forget that’s associated with this series of videos. I also have another very special and fond memory of renting and watching the very last episode of this series. As I remember one time my little sister and I got to spend the night with our cousin, since our big sister was spending the night with her friend, and I remember before we stopped at our cousin's house, our aunt taking my little sister and I along with our cousin to a VHS video store by their house and we got to choose a video to watch. One that we could all agree on, I guess. And all I know is that my sister, cousin and I ended up choosing the You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s School Dance Party. And I do remember us then watching some of that video once we got back to our cousin’s house to hangout.👧👧👧📼📺 Although, again, I remember us not really paying attention to all of it. So, it’s like as kids we…Well, I’ll speak for myself, it’s like I was into these videos, but not fully (except for when it came to the one my sisters and I owned on VHS). Which is crazy to me, because I liked the one video from this series that we had on VHS, and I was a big fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley, but for some reason I didn't really care for all the other videos in the series? And these videos are GREAT, for kids especially, so I don't understand why my younger self didn't watch them more, or why I wasn't really interested in all the other videos from this series.🤔 But I do feel like I remember at one point when I was a kid watching one of these party videos for the first time and actually thinking that Mary-Kate and Ashley were actually inviting me to their party with the beginning opening scroll thing .🤣 Which they weren’t. But that’s funny to think about. To think that I thought that at one time. But it was all just good marketing on their part, because the videos in this series do make you feel like you're just one of their other friends hanging out.👍😊

So, anyway, that was the last time I watched any of this series when I was a kid, kid. With my little sister and cousin. Except when it was Christmas each year after that, too, because I'm sure that my sisters and I watched the Christmas one that we had every year during Christmastime.👧👧👧📼📺🎄 'Cause we watched that one so many times during the year when it wasn’t even Christmas, which I would never do now, but we did. And then I also have special, fond memories of when I was a teenager going back to watch this series. As one day while on YouTube, I randomly looked up and saw all the other episodes from this series on there, and so I decided to watch them ALL that day since I still hadn’t seen them ALL at that point in time. And so, then that’s when I had officially seen ALL of the episodes of You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s, for the FIRST time. And I hadn’t gone back to watch any of these videos really since then. Except for some times during my later teens and early 20’s, around Christmas, my sisters and I (and just me, by myself) would put in that same Christmas collection VHS to watch the Christmas episodes from it. Just for nostalgia sake and for the season.🎄📼📺 I mean, we just actually "rewatched" that video last Christmas while decorating gingerbread houses, because it fit the vibe and it was a must.😊🎄🍪 But this is the first time in a long time that I actually sat down to rewatch all of these episodes in chronological order from beginning to end. And I did it just for this post, because I’m definitely not the target audience for these videos anymore, sadly.😔 They are definitely more for kids, even if kids these days don’t know or appreciate them as much as us 90’s babies still do today when we do see clips from these videos on YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok, etc.😊But it was fun getting to go back and watch these episodes all the way through. Again, just for nostalgia sake and for purpose of this post. Also, with me just having my birthday not too long ago, and my sister’s birthday coming up, and it literally being Mary-Kate and Ashley’s birthday today, I was in the BEST VIBE to rewatch them and the parties just keep on coming. So, again, that’s why I thought it was the perfect time to post about this musical party series.💜🩷🧡

Now, for the brief history on the series itself. You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s is a series of musical party videos starring actresses and real-life twin sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.👧👧🎉🎈🎶💃🛏️💤⏾🍕🎮🌺🌊🏄☀️🎂🪅🎢🎄🎅🎁🍪🛍️🏬🍣🍢🍔🍕🍟🍦🍭🍬🩰🗽🏕️🎣🪵🎭🍨🤠🪩👗🧢👚👠🧵🪡 ✂️📚🏫📞📋📼📺 You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s was produced by the Olsens’ production company, Dualstar, and created by Neil Steinberg. These direct-to-videos were released between August 22, 1995 to July 18, 2000, consisting of ten episodes/videos.📼📺 The series began with You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Sleepover Party and ended with You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s School Dance Party. And other than the ten individual episode/video releases, there were also three compilation videos released: You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Greatest Parties (2000), which included Sleepover Party🛏️💤⏾🍕🎮, Birthday Party🎂🪅🎢, and Mall Party🛍️🏬🍣🍢🍔🍕🍟🍦🍭🍬; You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Favorite Parties (2001), which included Fashion Party👗🧢👚👠🧵🪡 ✂️, Costume Party🎭🍨🤠🪩💃, and Camp Out Party🏕️🎣🪵🏕; and You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Vacation Parties (2001), which included Hawaiian Beach Party🌺🌊🏄☀️, Ballet Party🩰🗽, and Christmas Party🎄🎅🎁🍪. 

Each episode of the series is named “You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s” followed by the name of the party. And each 25 minute episode (except for School Dance Party) begins with the ICONIC and UNFORGETTABLE opening scroll, much like in The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley video series.📜 Then Mary-Kate and Ashley sing the ICONIC and UNFORGETTABLE theme song, “You’re Invited”.👧👧🎶 Then following the theme song, the twin sisters (Mary-Kate and Ashley) basically talk about a party they want to do , and they then throw/create/make said party happen.🎉 Each episode features the girls singing multiple songs about the party that they’re throwing and/or things they're doing during the party, and they never fail to not talk about boys or have boys come in and ruin their party any chance they get.👧👧💗👦👦 No, that happens too, but they actually really never fail to throw a bad party. Okay, maybe a few aren’t that great, but if you are a kid watching this they ALL look like FUN and are ALL PRETTY GREAT and RELATABLE. And if you’re an adult rewatching these episodes, like I am , it just makes it more FUNNY which is always a good time, too.😊 So, yeah, that’s pretty much all there is to know about this musical party series, but watch the clip below for a little bit more about them and their success:

As you can see this was a very successful and pretty long-lasting direct-to-video series, and it’s just UNFORGETTABLE and ICONIC to any true Mary-Kate and Ashley fan, whether you watched ONE of the videos from the series growing up or ALL of the videos.💜🩷🧡Therefore, that’s why I can’t wait any longer to talk about my favorites. Well, that concludes A Definitive Ranking of Every Episode From You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s!👏😊🎉 Like with any and everything Mary-Kate and Ashley related,  I really enjoyed getting to go back and rewatch this series from beginning to end. 'Cause I highly doubt there will be another time that I get to do this. Being that I’ve now, sadly, aged out of this series and all.😞😢 And, therefore you probably won’t find me just watching these episodes all the time, or any time at all, really (except maybe the Christmas episode during Christmastime😊🎄). But, I could never and will never forget this ICONIC, 90’s, FUN, NOSTALGIA-FILLED, musical party series of episodes starring Mary-Kate and Ashley.💜🩷🧡👧👧

This was just another fun and interesting trip down memory lane. ‘Cause a few things actually surprised me during my rewatch of these videos. One being that I actually think I prefer the mystery, adventure videos to these party videos. At least, I do think Mary-Kate and Ashley’s acting was better in those for some reason. The mystery, adventure videos also just seemed to have more depth to them storyline wise. They actually felt more like episodes of a show, whereas these party videos seemed just more slapped together concepts, more cheesy, and not much to them. But that’s also what they’re kind of supposed to be, I guess. It’s also interesting because in these party videos Mary-Kate and Ashley are just themselves throwing parties, not really characters at all, and it’s like what it would be like just hanging out with them. Whereas with the mystery, adventure videos, Mary-Kate and Ashley are playing more of, like, characters. So I guess I do appreciate both series for different reasons. Just some of these party videos are relatable and realistic, while others, not so much. But I mean, both series are out-of-touch, unrelatable at times, and mostly just ads for places. I mostly just enjoyed the songs from these party videos.🎶 But I don’t know, I also did appreciate certain aspects of some of the parties they threw, too. Again, I’m just not the target audience for these videos anymore. But I do still LOVE and APPRECIATE that Mary-Kate and Ashley created this series for us to watch, because they were a good idea and they are cute and fun, and nostalgic. As there are quite a lot of stuff that they do in these videos that was also stuff that I did as a kid and that I'm sure many people can relate to doing when they were kids. Types of parties that I would have with my sisters, friends, etc.  But there are also some things in these videos that they do that I never did, or got to go do as a kid, more unrelatable things. Which is okay, too. Just, again, not as realistic or relatable.😊

Like I mentioned before, some of these party videos are definitely better than others, but they’re still worth a watch especially for nostalgia purposes. I was actually a bit surprised at how musical these videos were, too. I didn’t realize they sang so much.🎶🎤 It’s more of them singing than talking. And I feel like there was more singing and dancing in these party videos than in the mystery, adventure ones. Which, hey, I'm not complaining because I LOVE mostly anything with singing and dancing. So I do really LOVE that about these videos, even if all the songs aren't great. Which I will be talking about the music from this series very soon.😉🎶 Basically, if someone asked me which of these direct-to-video series by Mary-Kate and Ashley I thought was better, I would say The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley, but that doesn’t diminish what this party series means to me, and how GREAT and ICONIC it still is. It just lacks a couple things that the mystery adventure series had when compared to it, but this party series from Mary-Kate and Ashley is still a must-watch if you’ve never seen it and if you're a fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley. Plus, as Mary-Kate and Ashley would say, nothing beats great times with good friends or good times with great friends, and this party musical series definitely gives you some of that.😊

All that being said, I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed creating it for you. Though, there's no need to be sad that it’s over just yet, because I have another party surprise coming your way.
