Welcome Back to MK&A and HAPPY (ALMOST) CHILLOWEEN!!👋🎉😊I’m SO EXCITED to finally share this second post of this series of blog posts with you guys today. Speaking of this being the second blog post for my Back to MK&A series, I hope you enjoyed my last Back to MK&A post (here) where I rewatched and ranked EVERY Mary-Kate and Ashley movie.👧👧📺📼 That was definitely one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE posts that I’ve ever done for this blog. And today, I’ve got another GREAT read for you guys. ‘Cause we’re going back to sort of the beginning. To the beginning of Mary-Kate and Ashley’s Dualstar releases that is. Another ICONIC and TRULY UNFORGETTABLE early 90’s gem of a series. That has a catchphrase that’s probably even more ICONIC than the series itself. Let me just say, they’ll solve any crime by dinner time!….And with that (and the title of this post), you obviously know I’m talking about The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley!👧👧🐶🎶🔍💼✏📜📞🕵📍🗺📼📺

Ahhh, I’m SO EXCITED that I finally get to talk about this musical mystery series. ‘Cause I’ve wanted to create this post for SO LONG now and I just can’t believe it’s finally here.😊 I know, I shouldn’t be this excited talking about an old kids series, but for this post I can be, because that’s what this blog is meant for. For a little trip down memory lane, back to what I grew up loving, watching, and listening to as a kid/tween/teen. All so I can share my thoughts and opinions about them here with you, and to just feel that NOSTALGIA again. Like I mentioned before, I grew up with these videos as a kid. So, I just have to talk about them at least once, and share my LOVE and appreciation for them here once and for all.💛🤎

For those of you who did not grow up loving pretty much all things Mary-Kate and Ashley, and therefore have no idea what this musical mystery series is that I speak of, then I’ll just give you a brief history about it. And for those of you who have seen these videos and already know the history of them, you can just skip past this part a little.👍😊 But, before I get into the history of this musical mystery series by Mary-Kate and Ashely, I’ll let you know a little bit about my history with them as a fan. In other words, how I came to know about this musical mystery series.

I, of course, wasn’t even born yet when more than half of these videos first released. So, I didn’t know that these videos  even existed until I was five-years-old, when my sisters and I received our first Mary-Kate and Ashley VHS tape. It was 2002, and it must have been around Christmastime, when my family and I’s next door neighbors who were also good friends of my parents at the time, came over and they gifted us Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Christmas Collection VHS. 🎄📼📺👧👧👧That VHS tape consisted of three episodes. One episode from Mary-Kate & Ashley's You’re Invited Series, and two other episodes from this series that I’m talking about now, The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley. I’ll never forget that moment when we got that tape, and I remember my sisters and I putting it in the VCR player and watching it immediately after they (our neighbors) left. It’s always been a special fond memory that I’ll never forget, because that VHS was not only one of the very FIRST pieces of Mary-Kate and Ashley merch that I owned (even though it was for my sisters AND I to share, but it was technically still mine to  have, too), but now that I think about it that VHS tape was also the FIRST TV or movie-related thing that  I had ever seen that starred Mary-Kate and Ashley, because I was too young at the time where I wasn’t watching Full House on TV every day or at all. 'Cause I actually didn’t know about Full House until like a couple of years after that. So, that’s SO CRAZY actually now that I think about it.🤯 And I still have that VHS tape of Mary-Kate & Ashely’s Christmas Collection.😊📼📺 Though, sadly it’s not the exact, original one that my sisters and I were gifted when I was five,  because I had to repurchase it when I was in my later teens, because the original one…let’s just say got lost later on when my parents got divorced and my sisters and I had to move and all that stuff.😞😢 But original or not it’s still the same one. Take a look:

So, yeah, my sisters and I received that video with a couple of episodes from The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley on it when we were kids, and then for some reason, I don’t know why, but we never asked for or received any more of that series of videos on VHS or anything as a kids.🤔 So those two episodes that were on that specific VHS tape that we did receive as a gift around Christmas were the only two Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley episodes that I knew about for the longest time, until I was a teenager, and one day while on YouTube I randomly looked up and saw all the other episodes from this series on there and that’s when I had seen ALL of the episodes of The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley for the FIRST time. And I hadn’t gone back to watch any  of the videos really since then. Except for some times during my later teens and early 20’s, around Christmas,  my sisters and I, and just me by myself, would put in that same Christmas collection VHS to watch just for nostalgia sake. So, this is the first time in a long time that I actually sat down to rewatch all of these episodes in chronological order from beginning to end. And I did it just for this post, because I’m definitely not the target audience for these videos anymore. They are definitely more for kids, even if kids these days don’t know or appreciate them as much as us 90’s babies still do today when we do see clips from these videos on YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok and such.😊But it was fun getting to go back and watch these episodes all the way through. Again, just for nostalgia sake and for this post of course. Also, it being almost Chilloween (what I like to call Halloween) and all, I thought this post would fit pretty well with the theme and vibe of this month, as well.🧡🖤🎃

Now, for the brief history on the series itself. The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley is a series of musical mystery videos starring actresses and real-life twin sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. 👧👧🐶🎶🔍💼✏📜📞🕵📍🗺📼📺The series was also written as children’s books, which I’m sure you can still find on sites such as eBay, Mercari, or Poshmark to read.📚 Eleven of the 57 set of books, were written as a companion pieces for each episode of the show. While the other non-eleven, were just extra stories just made for the book series, with no episode to go along with them. The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley, although produced by the Olsens’ production company (Dualstar), is a video series that was distributed by BMG Kidz and KidVision. These direct-to-videos were released from September 13, 1994 (12 days after my older sister's birthday😊🎂🎈🎉) to March 18, 1997 (10 days after my birthday😊🎂🎈🎉) consisting of eleven episodes/videos.📼📺 But other than the eleven episode releases, there were also three compilation videos made: The Amazing Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley, The Favorite Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley, & (as I mentioned before) Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Christmas Collection. 

Each episode of the series is named “The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley” followed by the name of the mystery. And each 30 minute episode begins with Mary-Kate and Ashley singing the theme song, “Give Us A Mystery”.  Then following the theme song, the twin sisters (Mary-Kate and Ashley) receive a phone call, informing them of some urgent mystery that needs to be solved. And of course they solve it with their motto being, "We’ll solve any crime by dinnertime". Each episode features the girls singing multiple songs about the mystery that they are working on, and they never fail to solve the mystery without their sidekick Clue (a Basset Hound dog). And yes, the solution is usually something either very obvious or very trivial but it gives all the episodes a humorous ending.

So, yeah, that’s pretty much all there is to know about this musical mystery series, but watch the clip below for more about them and their success:

As you can see this was a very successful and pretty long-lasting direct-to-video series, and it’s just UNFORGETTABLE and ICONIC to any true Mary-Kate and Ashley fan.💛🤎 Therefore, I can’t wait any longer. Just a brief note before I begin: Since this musical mystery series only consisted of eleven episodes, which is a good amount but not a lot, a lot, I just decided instead of just choosing and ranking the TOP 3 BEST that I would just rank ALL OF THEM together. 'Cause I mean, I couldn’t not talk about ALL of them. So, this was the perfect way to do so. Now, for real this time, put on your favorite trench coat, you probably don’t have homework to finish, but don’t forget to feed the goldfish, walk your dog, cause the mysteries of life are screaming to be solved and we should all be dying to get involved. Well, that concludes A Definitive Ranking of Every Episode from the Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley! Like with any and everything Mary-Kate and Ashley related,  I really enjoyed getting to go back and rewatch this series from beginning to end. 'Cause I highly doubt  there will be another time that I get to do this. Being that I’ve now, sadly, aged out of this series and all.😞😢 And, therefore you probably won’t find me just watching these episodes all the time or any time at all really (except maybe the Christmas episode during Christmas time😊🎄). But, I could never and will never forget this ICONIC, 90’s, FUN-FILLED, mystery, musical series of episodes featuring Mary-Kate and Ashley.💛🤎 This was just another fun, interesting trip down memory lane.
