THE TOP 20 GREATEST DISNEY PRINCESS FILM SONGS OF ALL TIME

Welcome Back to Disney! I hope you enjoyed my last post where I created A Ranking of Every Disney Princess Film. I had so much fun doing that last post that I wanted to continue with that Disney Princess theme. So that is why for this week I decided to go back and listen to all of the soundtracks from every Disney Princess film that I ranked in my last post and pick the top 20 greatest songs from those soundtracks and rank them from my least to most favorite. You know I love music, and all of the Disney Princess movies that I talked about in my last post have some great songs that are featured in them. So, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to do this post. Just like the Disney Princess movies themselves, the soundtracks/songs that came along with them are very nostalgic and timeless. At least to me they are. These songs just like the movies are unforgettable, full of nostalgia, and really are what make the movies as great as they are. I mean, let's face it, some of the best Disney Princess movies are only the best because of the songs in them. Am I right or am I right? Okay, you don't have to really answer that. Lol. But for real, none of these movies would exist without these songs and none of these songs would exist without these movies. So, let's get into The Top 20 Greatest Disney Princess Film Songs Of All Time

Just a brief note before we begin: I only chose the top 20 greatest Disney Princess film songs out of all the songs on the soundtracks from every first/original Disney Princess movie. In other words, if the Disney Princess movie had a sequel or even a third movie, I didn't include any of those soundtracks/songs from those movies in this ranking. I only focused on the first/original movie soundtracks. So, hope that makes sense. Now, for real this time, let's get into a ranking of The Top 20 Greatest Disney Princess Film Songs Of All Time.👑🎵𝆔𝅗𝅥𝅘𝅥

(from least to most favorite)...

#20 "Dos Oruguitas" from Encanto by Sebastian Yatra (2021)

I changed my least favorite song on this list so many times. Originally, I didn't even have this song added on this top 20 list at all, but I thought about this song at the last minute (cause it was always playing in the back of my mind) and I thought it really deserved to at least be on the list even though it's the least best out of all the other songs on this ranking. Like I mentioned in my last post, I just recently discovered and watched this movie a few weeks ago and so this song from the movie Encanto is still new to me, but I really do love it. As I've also mentioned before on this blog, I've never been the biggest fan of Spanish music (it's just never been my go-to genre of music) but Encanto really has me over here listening to songs I never thought that I would ever like or let alone even listen to. I really do love all of the songs (well, majority of the songs) from this movie. but I couldn't put them all on this list because then it would have just been an Encanto soundtrack/song ranking. But don't worry, cause if you love the movie Encanto and its songs like I do, you will be seeing a couple more songs from it on this list. This song in particular is just one of the songs that stood out to me the most when listening to the full soundtrack of this movie as well as after listening to all the other Disney Princess movie soundtracks. Although, because I don't know or speak Spanish, I have no idea what this song is about or what the singer is singing. I didn't even know what the title of this song was called until I looked it up and it does in fact mean "Two Caterpillars" in English. But, having said that, I don't have to even know what the person is singing in this song to love it, because I just love the emotional feel of this song. It's a really beautiful song and it plays during a really emotional, sad scene in the movie, as well. So, it does go lowest on this list for that reason of it being more slower, sad, and emotional. Cause it makes me feel more melancholy which is not a song I would choose to listen to all the time, but nonetheless, it's still a great song despite it placing last on this list. This song is obviously about caterpillars, hence the title, but I also read somewhere online that in particular it's about the caterpillars changing with the world and maturing into butterflies. I don't know if that's true, but I love a good metamorphosis story. Cause I mean who doesn't like butterflies and caterpillars? I really love this song because it's such a great song to sing along to even if you don't know how to pronounce or say the words correctly, like me. This song just seems like the perfect lullaby song because it is a slow ballad and has that type of vibe to it. As it's very soothing and peaceful to listen to. Again, what I could gather about the overall song's meaning is that it's a metaphor used to describe two people having to leave each other in order to make sure a good and secure future exists for their kids, which is basically what one of the story lines in the movie is all about (the Alma and Pedro Madrigal story line). This is just one of those songs that you don't need to be able to speak Spanish in order to feel the emotional weight of it. Cause you just know that this song speaks a powerful truth even without knowing the lyrics.

#19 "I See The Light" from Tangled by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi (2010)

I am actually surprised myself that I did not rank this song higher on this list because this is definitely my favorite song/scene from Tangled. I guess just me listening to this song while not actually watching the movie scene just doesn't hit the same. This song just isn't the best when compared to all the other songs on this ranking. Don't get me wrong though, because it's still a good song, it just doesn't stand on its own good enough for me. This song is just a sweet, touching, down-tempo love song and it includes elements of musical theater, folk, and pop music. This song is sung by the two main characters and love interests in the movie, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider (aka Eugene). Even though this song doesn't hit the same for me as it does while actually watching the movie, there's no doubt that this song pulls at my heart strings and I'm sure it will for anyone who listens to it. It's just one of those iconic, nostalgic, unforgettable songs which is why it deserved at least some kind of spot on this top 20 list. Again, not only is this scene in the movie really cute and sweet, but the meaning of this song is also really sweet and cute. As this song takes place during the scene of the movie when Rapunzel finally gets to live her dream and see the floating lights, thanks to the help of Flynn Rider (aka Eugene). One evening they row out in a boat thing onto a lake to get a good view of the lanterns where they both end up releasing their own lanterns in the sky. After they do this, Rapunzel discovers that she wants to pursue a relationship with Flynn and Flynn himself also realizes that his previous dream of becoming rich was nearsighted and they then therefore both find that their new dream is each other. (I know. I know. Cue the awwwws.) So, that is what this song greatly conveys in the movie and what the meaning of this song is all about. Although, this is not a song that I can necessarily relate to, it's still a great song and one of my all time favorites from a Disney Princess film. I also love how this song is a duet between the two characters, which also makes it special. This song is also a lot slower than some of the others on this list and therefore it's not something that I would necessarily want to listen to every day. So, that's another reason why this song ranks pretty low for me compared to all the others on this list, because I have to be in the right type of mood to want to listen to it and it's just not an every day type of song.

#18 "A Whole New World" from Aladdin by Lea Salonga & Brad Kane (1992)

This is another one of those songs that I knew from the start had to be included on this list because it's just one of those songs that I automatically think of when I think about Disney Princess movies. I mean this scene of the movie with this song is the best part of the whole animation version of this movie and I'm sure the best scene from the live-action version, as well. Fun fact, the flying carpet scene with Aladdin and Jasmin singing this song is actually the only scene that I've seen from the live-action Aladdin and that's only because my little sister Amber (celebrategoodtimesblog.blogspot.com) used to play this song/scene on repeat. So, this song has always been ingrained in my mind ever since then. I also never thought that I would actually rank this song above the previous one I mentioned, which I didn't at first, until I switched them last minute because I think this song is just a little better than the previous one due to the fact that it's a little more upbeat, it makes me feel happier, and can stand alone on its own better than the previous song I mentioned. This is also another duet song performed by the two main characters and love interests in the movie, Aladdin and Jasmin, as they go on a magic carpet ride around the world. It's another great love ballad that's fun to sing along to and I would also rather put this song on repeat more over the previous song(s) I mentioned. Lyrically, this song describes Aladdin showing Jasmin (the confined Princess) a life of freedom and it shows the pair's acknowledgment of their love for one another while riding on a magic carpet. As to be expected, this song just gives you that magical, warm Disney feeling and makes you feel like your also flying on a magic carpet, which I love.

#17 "Do You Want To Build A Snowman" from Frozen by Kristen Bell/Agatha Lee Monn/Katie Lopez (2013)

As I've mentioned before on this blog, this song was never my favorite and it's still not one of my most favorites or the best song from a Disney Princess film, but this song is obviously iconic and unforgettable for a reason which is why it deserved a spot on this list and here it is. I still want to not like this song, but how could I not like this song. It's definitely more for a younger audience, but again, I still love it nonetheless and I think it's one of the all time best Disney Princess film songs. I mean, I can't even think about this movie without thinking about this song. Although, I feel like I can only listen to this song when it's snowing outside. Lol. No, but for real, this is an interesting song from Frozen and from a lot of these other songs on this list because it's sung by not ONE...not TWO...but THREE different people. As Anna sings this song in the movie at three different stages of her life: at age five, nine, and fifteen. So, same character, but three different voices when she sings this song. This is a sweet song/scene from the movie because it's all about Anna trying to convince her older sister Elsa to come out of her room and come play outside with her. As since their parents died, they have nothing or no one but each other. But, of course, Anna's attempt at getting her sister to come play with her fails. This song is relatable to siblings everywhere, coming from someone who has two siblings myself. Not even just siblings though, but just any kind of family member or even friends in general can also relate to this song. As I'm sure we've all asked someone close to us to hang out and go do stuff when they are busy doing other things or just don't want to. I know I have asked this to my own sisters at one time or another, so I can totally relate to how Anna feels during this song/scene. This song definitely goes from happy feelings to sad feelings in a matter of seconds. It's kind of more of a sad song than a happy song, but it's still fun to listen to at times. Overall, it's just a really fun song to sing. One of my favorite parts of the song to sing being the mouth sound she does for the "tick-tock, tick-tock" part of the song.

#16 "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from Encanto by ensemble cast members (Carolina Gaitan, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, and Stephanie Beatriz) (2021)

Like I said before, Encanto has some of the best songs from any Disney Princess film I've seen and this is another amazing one of them. This is THE song that I heard from the movie so many times before I ever even watched it and I never understood all the hype around it, but now after having watched the movie I totally get the hype. This song is very catchy and I love the Latin pop, salsa vibes of it. Obviously, if you've never seen this movie you probably won't understand what this song is about or who it's about more specifically, but I'm sure you can still love it despite not knowing anything about the movie or who the heck Bruno is. I mean, it is the mystery element and catchy rhythm that makes this song so great after all. This song in the movie is sung by some of the Madrigal family members and some other townspeople explaining to Mirabel why they don't talk about Bruno (the ostracized uncle of the family). This song is very unique from a lot of the other villain songs from Disney's many Princess movies, as the song suggests that Bruno is villainous but it sheds the conventional or more traditional Disney villain song types by listing other characters' perspectives of the so-called villain (Bruno). There's a lot of gossip and anecdotes about Bruno in this song and throughout the movie in general, as his gift of seeing the future has been associated with misfortune and has left him estranged from the rest of his family. Though in the song some characters hint that they actually sympathize with Bruno. I just love that there's so many different voices singing this song and it really blends a lot of different Latin music styles with pop, dance, hip-hop, and even Broadway musical elements. It's just a very unique and interesting song in that way. One that's fun to sing and dance along to and also laugh at (cause it's just a little random and funny to me at times). One of my most favorite parts of this song is when Dolores Madrigal comes in and sings her verse of the song and I love the "ch ch ch" part, but the whole song is great.

#15 "Let It Go" from Frozen by Demi Lovato (2013)

This is another song that you can't help but think about and know when you think about Disney Princess movies and their songs. I've never been the biggest fan of this song, as I've always found it to be kind of annoying. But now, after actually watching the whole movie and listening to this song again and again a few times for this ranking, I do think it's a pretty good song. There are actually two versions of this song. One sung by the actual person who voiced the character Elsa who sings this song in the movie, Idina Menzel, and the other more pop version sung by Demi Lovato during the end credits of the movie. After listening to both versions, I will say that I do prefer Demi Lovato's version of this song way more than the original version by Idina Menzel. However, I will also say that I do think that there is something missing in both versions. I don't know, but when I listen to both versions of this song they just feel incomplete to me. Again, there's just that one special something missing from them both. I don't know exactly what that something is, but there's just something missing that could make both versions better, in my opinion. I mainly just chose to rank this song higher than the previous song I mentioned just because it has a better message. I also love a good pop ballad and this song is just that. One of the main characters, Elsa, sings this song during the scene of the movie when she is finding her identity, growing into who she is, and finally accepting her own strength and magical powers. She finally let's it all go and embraces it instead of hiding it like she has done her whole life. I love how Elsa used what her father once told her when she was a child and given her gloves for safety, "Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know" and she finally let's go and puts that phrase and her past behind her by singing this song with the lyrics, "Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know/ Well, now they know/ Let it go, let it go". I also love the part of the song when she sings:

It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small

And the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all

It's time to see what I can do

To test the limits and breakthrough

I can relate to that verse a lot, as I'm sure a lot of people can who have or have had fears. Sometimes you just have to breakthrough and test the limits of what you can do and not let anyone stop you or tell you otherwise. As you can see it's a pretty powerful song lyrically. Again, I just really like Demi's version of this song because it's more emotional and powerful, more raw and real. You can literally hear the passion in her voice while she is singing it which is more impactful I think, while the original version by Idina Menzel is just more Broadway musical and it's also a bit faster than Demi's version. The message of this song is just really relatable to anyone, as it's all about not caring what other people say or what they want from you and just learning to let go and be free. You know when you try to keep your tears in for so long or your thoughts bottled up inside when you need to get them out but you can't or just don't want to in the moment and when you finally are able to let it go and just let out your tears and emotions about something. This is a song that makes me think of that. That notion of trying to be strong for too long is very relatable to me and is what this song is all about, as well, in regards to inspiring one to not want to do that and just letting it all go.

#14 "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid by Samuel E. Wright (1991)

The Little Mermaid is not only one of my all time favorite Disney Princess movies but the soundtrack is also one of the all time best when compared to a lot of the other Disney Princess movies' soundtracks. This is one of the most unforgettable songs from the movie and the scene itself is also great. Every time this scene comes on in the movie I can't help but want to sing and dance along. This song never fails to put a smile on my face. It's also one of the more nostalgic Disney Princess film songs to me, so that's another reason why I love it so much. But, not only did I decide to rank this song above the others for more nostalgic reasons but also because it has a good message. The message of this song is all about life not always being greener on the other side. As this song is sung  by Sebastian in the movie who is trying to convince Ariel (the little mermaid) that instead of joining the human world to spend her life with Prince Eric, she should just enjoy the wonderful life they have underwater. As in the song he (Sebastian) warns of the struggles of human life while at the same time detailing the benefits of a care-free life under the sea. Of course, however, his plea to Ariel fails because she ends up leaving before the end of the song. I love how different this song is from a lot of the others on this list in regards to sound and style of it, as it is a Calypso (Caribbean music) and reggae style song. It's a really catchy song, too. I could listen to this song on repeat as I did for this ranking but it can, after a while, start to get a little monotonous which is also one reason why I ranked it a little lower on this list. I love this song but it's still not my most favorite, at least when compared to all the other songs I will be mentioning later. However, I'm sure we can all relate to Ariel and this song's overall message. I know at one time or another I've felt like something looked more fun and amusing than what I was doing, something looked better than what I had, or where I was. It's like you want that thing that someone else has or to be somewhere that they are, but if you were to actually be there or get what they have you realize that it's not as amazing as you once thought it would be. It's important to appreciate where you are and not want what other people have or even what they don't have. Just enjoy where you're at. This is a good lesson Ariel should have actually learned in this movie, which she didn't really.

#13 "True To Your Heart" from Mulan by 98 Degrees & Stevie Wonder (1998)

This is a song that I was not very familiar with before watching these Disney Princess movies back again and listening to their soundtracks. I, of course, had seen Mulan so many times as a kid before doing this ranking but I guess because this song only plays during the end credits of the movie I just never remembered it and it never stood out to me until now. After listening to all of the Disney Princess movies' soundtracks this is a song that I really grew to love and appreciate. I especially just love it more than the previous ones I've already mentioned due to the great, positive message but also the overall 90's vibe. Trust me, right when you play this song you won't be able to stop bumping your head along to it. At least that's what happens when I play this song. Mulan is obviously another one of those great, iconic Disney Princess films with some of the best songs, this song being no exception. In fact, just a little hint for you, you will be seeing a couple more of the iconic songs from this movie on this list. This is not only a good pop song but it also has that R&B and soul feel to it, which I love even more. This is another song that I could play on repeat and never get sick of. It's just a great feel-good, vibey song. This song is also more vibrant than the other songs on the Mulan soundtrack, which is another reason why it stood out to me a bit more and probably why it only made it on the end credits of the movie. I love the line of the song that goes, "Open your eyes/ Your heart can tell you no lies". This song is all about believing in yourself and, well as the title suggest, trusting your heart. That is such a great, positive and true message. I also love that this song mentions the word "heavens", which is always a plus. I also like the refrain part of the song from Stevie Wonder, as he sings,

(you know it's true) Your heart knows what's good for you

(good for you) Let your heart show you the way

(you know it's true) It'll see you through (gotta be true, to your heart)

Overall, it's just another feel-good, positive song with a great message that I love.

#12 "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" from Mulan by Donny Osmond (1998)

Like I said before, the Mulan soundtrack has some great songs, this being one of them. Before even creating this ranking, I always knew that if I ever did a post like this that this song would be on the list for sure as one of the top 20 greatest Disney Princess film songs of all time because it has always been not only one of my all time favorite songs from the movie but also the scene that this song plays during is one of my all time favorite scenes from the whole movie. However, having said that, I actually thought that this song would go much higher on a ranking like this one. But after listening to it over and over a few times for this post there are a couple of reasons why it doesn't rank higher on this list. First one being because if you just listen to this song without actually watching the scene it's from in the movie, to me it just doesn't stand alone good on its own away from the movie. Secondly, obviously the message about making a man out of a woman or anyone for that matter (trying to make a man manlier) is not something I stand by or support. I get that it makes total sense for the movie itself but just listening to the song alone without the movie part, I don't think the message holds up. I don't think a woman needs to be made a man of. In other words, the lyrics of this song really only go for the movie's story line. It can't really relate to real life. Third, I still love this whole song, but I really only love the part when it really hits at the 1:40 mark and at the 2:36 mark til the end. Those are just personally my favorite parts of the whole song. This song is just very different from a lot of the other songs on this list because it slowly and gradually builds and builds, which I love, but I also don't love that about this song. I think I would prefer it to stay the same throughout because, again, I just really like the part of the song when it hits hard and stays that way for a bit. Other than all that though, I really do still love this song. It's really fun to sing along to and it goes with the scene of the movie perfectly. It is a song that makes me feel more pumped up and powerful, ready to take on anything after I listen to it. In other words, this song really makes me feel empowered and encouraged. This is just a great song to help anyone get up and ready and motivated for the day ahead. I do believe that this song is a great celebration of Mulan's courage and strength and it really does capture all the key elements of the movie from its humor, timing, and messaging. This up-tempo, military style song is performed by Captain Li Shang during a strict training montage where his soldiers are trying to justify their worth. However, the title of this song is ironic considering that Mulan ultimately proves to be more capable than her male counterparts just by relying on her intelligence. The lyrics also further explore hyper-masculinity rejecting Mulan's gender. I not only love this song during the training montage scene but I also think it gets even better during the ending, climax scene with just the choir singing it. That's also a great scene with the song playing in the movie. It really makes me feel something when I get to that scene in the movie more than even the training montage scene with the song. If you don't know what ending scene I'm talking about, check it out below.

#11 "How Far I'll Go" from Moana by Auli'i Cravalho (2016)

Although, I'm not the biggest fan of this movie for reasons I discussed in my last post (here), I am a BIG FAN of this song from the movie. I actually had a really hard time deciding where I wanted to rank this song because before even doing this I knew it would be high as one of my top favorites, and then I did have it at like above #5, but then I ultimately decided to rank it here at #11 where I think it fits best. There are actually two versions of this song. The main one from the movie sung by Auli'i Cravalho (who voices the main character of the movie, Moana) which is more soulful and of a show tune type song and the more pop version that plays during the ending credits of the movie sung by Alessia Cara. I actually like both versions of this song a lot. Even before I had ever seen this movie, I knew of and had heard this song so many times. It seemed to be everywhere during 2016 and after, much like Frozen and it's popular songs "Let It Go" and "Do You Want To Build A Snowman". This song is really great because it's really fun to sing and it has a great message. It's super catchy and never gets old. This song expresses a deep, richer message and honestly the better thoughts that Ariel from The Little Mermaid should have had. As instead of Moana singing about not liking where she's at and wanting to get out, Moana in this song is more so saying that she love's where she's at (the island) and her parents but asking why she can't stop walking to the ocean and fantasizing about getting out of the place she's at. In other words, she's more so questioning the instinct, which is a more complicated and valid question to ask. As Moana sings this song while struggling with the irresistible impulse to explore beyond the reef even though she does have genuine love for her island, her family, and her people. Again, a much better approach Ariel should have had in The Little Mermaid (but we still love her anyways). You know I love a good ballad and this is a powerful one for sure that's also pretty relatable. I mean you can't think about Disney Princess films without thinking about this song. At least I know I can't.

#10 "Columbia, Mi Encanto" from Encanto by Carlos Vives (2021)

This is another great song from Encanto and obviously my most favorite song from the whole movie. I just really LOVE this song even though, again, it's in Spanish and I have no idea what he's singing the whole time. I actually had to look up what the title even says and it in fact means "Columbia, My Charm". From the very start of this song to the very end, it just makes me want to get up and dance and sing. I love songs like this one that can make me feel that way. This is like the ultimate dance song, especially out of all the songs on this ranking. This song is played twice in the movie. One time when Antonio Madrigal gets his gift and again during the closing scenes to the ending credits. From what I could gather this song, hence the title "Columbia, Mi Encanto/Columbia, My Charm", is a vibrant tropi-pop song that is an ode to Columbia's charm as a country. Again, I just love any song that makes me want to dance and sing along and this song is just that and more. I love a good celebratory song. Yeah, I am just at a loss for words. This song is just so fun and amazing. Just take a listen for yourself and you'll see why I love it so much.

#9 "If I Never Knew You" from Pocahontas by Jon Secada & Shanice (1995)

This is definitely the saddest, most emotional song on this ranking, but it's truly a great song. I just think the lyrics and beat of this song is so sweet and beautiful. Pocahontas truly has one of the best Disney Princess movie soundtracks/songs, this song being no exception. Fun fact though, I didn't find out until this year (after my sisters and I watched this movie and my little sister told me), that there was an actual scene with this song from the movie that got cut and honestly after listening to this song so many times for this post and re-watching the scene with this song in it I honestly don't understand why they cut this song/scene from the movie. I think it fits so perfectly with the overall story line. So because of it being cut from the movie and only having listened to it a few times before doing this post, it's still pretty new to me, but I can never forget it now that I've heard it. It's just too good. I actually listened to two versions of this song. One sung by the two main characters and love interests in the movie and the other version (that I believe played during the ending credits of the movie) sung by Jon Secada and Shanice. I really love both versions of this song. This romantic love song was originally performed by the characters John Smith and Pocahontas during the prison scene when Pocahontas visits John Smith before he is to be put to death for the supposed alleged murder of Kocoum. Lyrically, the song itself shows the meaning of if both Pocahontas and John Smith never even met. They would have never fallen in love with each other and they would've never known each other if it weren't for the hate and disgust between the Native Americans and the English settlers. Again, this song is just very sweet, romantic, and beautifully deep, full of so much meaning. Anyone could actually relate to this song, as it doesn't just have to relate to two lovers. I know I could sing this song about anyone I love and who has made a huge impact on my life.

#8 "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid by Samuel E. Wright (1989)

This is another classic, unforgettable, great song from The Little Mermaid. Not only is this song so sweet and cute but so is the actual scene itself from the movie. The boat scene with Ariel and Eric is actually one of my most favorite scenes from the whole movie and it's honestly only because of this song. Okay, maybe not the only reason why I love this scene, but mainly why I love the scene so much. I also really love this song because it's super nostalgic to me and the reason why it's super nostalgic to me is because of this...

Yep. I just couldn't wait any longer to post and talk about Ashley Tisdale's version of this song. I just have really fond memories of seeing and watching this music video with Ashley Tisdale on Disney Channel when it first premiered and when they would play reruns of it during commercial breaks. It actually makes me emotional watching this video, cause it brings back so many great memories of that time in my life. It's an iconic video and an iconic song. I honestly prefer Ashley Tisdale's version of this song way more than the original one played in the movie. Don't get me wrong though, I still love the original version, but Ashley Tisdale's version is just way more fun to sing and dance along to. The original version of this song is more of a romantic, Calypso style love song, while Ashley's is also romantic in tone and lyrically but more pop rock in style. I can just never get enough of Ashley Tisdale's version of this song. Hence, why I keep going on about it. I just love everything about it, forever and always. I love all the "sha la la la" and "la la la" parts of the song, especially. I also think anyone with a crush can relate to this song, when you just want a guy to notice you (or in this case, kiss you). Lol. No, but for real, this song is really relatable. In the movie, this song takes place during Ariel's second day as a human when her and Eric are in a boat on the water and Sebastian tries to set a romantic mood for them in order to encourage Eric to kiss Ariel before it's too late. Check it out...

#7 "So This Is Love" from Cinderella by Illene Woods and Mike Douglas (1950)

By now you know that Cinderella is my all time favorite Disney Princess and Disney Princess movie. So, you know I just had to include some of the movie's best songs on this ranking. I chose to rank this song higher than the previous one I mentioned just because it's a classic, beautiful love song. It is the ultimate Disney Princess film romantic love song. I just love the good old-timey vibes this song gives off when I listen to it. I just sway my head back and forth every time while listening to this song. Cause that's what I also love about this song, is that it's so soothing and peaceful to listen to. This would be a great wedding song to dance to (just a random thought). There are two versions of this song. One with just Illene Woods (the actual voice of Cinderella) singing it and another version (which I listened to the most) with her (Illene Woods) and Mike Douglas singing it as a duet. I really enjoy listening to both versions but I think the one with them both singing really fits the scene of them dancing in the movie and the whole romance, love theme of the song itself. But, I do love that if you listen to the version with just Illene singing, in the background you can actually hear the vinyl crackling sound, which is unique and cool. I also just really love the acoustic piano part in her version of the song. It's so beautiful. Every time I play this song it just makes me want to re-watch the movie. As in the movie this romantic ballad is performed by the voices of Cinderella and Prince Charming when they dance throughout the castle during the ball. During this song/scene, the two gradually fall in love with one another. Though, Cinderella never realizes who she's actually dancing with and the song ends when the clock strikes twelve. It's a really sweet, romantic scene for a very sweet and romantic song. It's definitely one of my all time favorite songs/scenes from the movie. The only thing I don't like about this song is that it is not long enough. I just want to listen to this song forever, but unfortunately it's actually the most shortest song from a Disney Princess film on this ranking. Cause they just repeat a few lyrics a couple of times and the rest is instrumental. So, even though there's not many lyrics to this song, the few it does have still makes for a huge impact. This song also mentions the word "heaven" which, again, is always a plus. This song can also be so relatable to anyone who is in love, wanting love, finding love, or just dreaming of love. You can actually even relate it to all sorts of different kinds of love too, if you want. It definitely gives you that magical Disney feeling while listening to it.

#6 "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" from Cinderella by Illene Woods (1950)

This is my most favorite song from the Cinderella soundtrack because I love the overall positive message of this song and it's just one of the most iconic, classic Disney Princess film songs ever. It's definitely one of the first songs that I think about when I think of these movies or even Disney in general. I mean it's not only the overall theme of the movie Cinderella but "dreams", having them and wishing for them, is an overall recurring theme for many Disney-related movies and promotions. I mean for some reason when I think of Disney World I think of this song. This song, as the title suggests, is all about having faith in your dreams cause someday they will come true if you just keep believing. In this song/scene from the movie, Cinderella encourages her animal friends to never stop dreaming, and that theme continues throughout the entire story. It's just such a relatable song because I mean everyone has dreams or wishes, right? I not only love the beautiful sentimental lyrics of this song, but I also love the warm, happy, soothing nature of this song, as well. As it's definitely another slow, old-timey classic, but that's what I love about this song. But, that also just depends on which version of this song that you choose to listen to, because let's not forget this version from some of our favorite Disney Channel stars that made this song even more magical, special, and fun to listen and sing along to...

#5 "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid by Jodi Benson (1989)

This is my all time favorite song from The Little Mermaid. I can play this song on repeat multiple times and never get tired of it. It's just such a great powerful ballad. I could sing this song all day. It's just so fun to sing. This song is sung by the main character of the movie, Ariel, as she is expressing her strong desire to become human. The lyrics of this song use placeholder names in lieu of several human-related terms that would be unfamiliar to a mermaid. This song is essentially the film's theme song. It is also reprised by Ariel in the movie after she rescues Eric (a human) from drowning. I mean this is truly one of the greatest Disney Princess film songs ever written, in my opinion. Although I can't really relate to this song, as I'm not a mermaid nor do I wish to be a part of anyone else's world, I still love this song a lot. Plus, I don't have to necessarily relate to a song in order to love it. This song is also very, very nostalgic to me. Not just because I grew up watching and loving this movie, but also because I loved watching this little VHS tape my sisters and I had when we were little called Mickey's Fun Songs: Beach Party at Walt Disney World. The part of that tape of the girls singing with the Little Mermaid at Walt Disney World was always my most favorite part of that video. I just have such fond memories of singing along with them to this song at the top of my lungs and loving every bit of that musical video. So, I've always loved this song a lot and I will always love it. It never gets old. I really like the part of the song when she sings, "What's a fire and why does it, what's the word?/  BURNnnnn". I just love the nostalgic, warm feelings I get when listening to this song. It's a classic for sure.

#4 "Beauty and the Beast" from Beauty & the Beast by Angela Lansbury (1991)

This is not only the title track of Beauty & the Beast but it's also one of my all time favorite songs from a Disney Princess film. I knew even before creating this post that this song would be at the very top of my list. It's just an unforgettable, classic song that has a lot of emotion and depth. Honestly, I've always loved this song/scene in the movie but I would sometimes choose not to watch this movie just for the sole reason of this song being in it, because I didn't want to cry or be sad. I don't know what it is about this song but it just makes me super emotional. There are two versions of this song that I listened to for this ranking. One, of course, being the one from the actual big ballroom scene in the movie with Mrs. Potts singing it and another version sung by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson during the movie's end credits. I honestly prefer the Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson version a lot more than the original version sung by the character Mrs. Potts in the movie. It's just a lot better and gets me more in my feels than the one sung by Mrs. Potts (Angela Lansbury). Again, this song is sung during the scene when Belle and the Beast are dancing in the ballroom of the castle. Lyrically, the song talks about the budding romance between the two characters. Specifically, how the two characters have learned to accept their differences and change each other for the better. The original version is more of a musical theater, Broadway style, while the Celine Dion version is more 90's pop, which I love. The intro, the slow music, and soothing feel of this song really just takes you to that fairy tale world. There's just something else about this song that not a lot of these other songs have and that just deeply touches me. This song is just pure magic. Again, the message of this song is just beautiful, as the lyrics imply that the feeling of love is as timeless and ageless as a "tale as old as time". You just can't not love this song. This song is only a little lower on this list just because it makes me a lot more sad and emotional and right now I would rather choose to listen to a song that makes me feel happier and not so sad. In other words, I wouldn't really choose to play this song on repeat every day or even just once a day, but it's still one of the best Disney Princess film songs, no doubt about it.

#3 "Reflection" from Mulan by Lea Salonga (1998)

What did I tell you? Mulan has some great songs that are some of my most favorites and this one in particular is the best and my absolute favorite from the movie for so many reasons. First of all, I was already familiar with this song before even creating this post and watching the movie again weeks ago for my last post that I did. But, I actually really only fell in love (not literally) with this song in 2019 when I went through this whole Christina Aguilera phase. At the time, or before that time, I actually never even knew that she sang this song until I was watching some of her old stuff on YouTube and came across it. Once I found her version of this song I couldn't stop singing it all the time. So, although I love Christina Aguilera's version and prefer her version over the original one by Lea Salonga, I still love both versions of this song so much and I also love this scene from the movie. This song is sung after Mulan returns home following a humiliating and failed attempt at impressing her matchmaker. What I really love about this song is the relatable, positive message. As the lyrics greatly express the way Mulan feels about wanting to show the world who she really is instead of pretending to be who she's not. But, of course, she is afraid to disappoint her family by doing so. This song/scene from the movie is very deep, emotional, and powerful. Again, I love a good power ballad and this is just that and more. I specifically love the line of the song when she sings,

                                       I am now

In a world where I have to hide my heart

                                      And what I believe in

But somehow I will show the world what's inside my heart

And be loved for who I am

and also the part when she sings, "Why must we all conceal/ What we think/ How we feel". As I'm sure we've all felt like this at one time or another. In that we feel like we have to act a certain way or like a certain thing to please others and therefore hide who we really are because you just want to be liked or not make anyone mad. I know I've felt that way before where I was afraid of doing or saying one thing because I was afraid I would get judged by others. Thankfully, I'm not like that anymore and don't care what anyone thinks about me. But for those that might have trouble with that kind of thing, like she sings in this song, it's important to just be yourself in order to recognize that girl/boy/man/women, in the mirror looking back at you. Never change who you are in order to please others. For me it's important to only please God and therefore myself, not anyone else. So, I love the real, positive, deep message of this song. I think it's always an important one for everyone to remember. I also love how you can just hear the strength and power of her voice in this song, like the lyrics really mean something to her as well, which just makes me believe what she's saying even more and appreciate it that much more. This is one of the ultimate best self-empowerment songs from a Disney Princess film, hands down.

#2 "Lead the Way" from Raya and the Last Dragon by Jhene Aiko (2021)

As you can probably tell by now, I usually go for the more classic, old-school songs, but after watching this movie a couple of weeks ago and going back again to listen to this song from the movie's soundtrack, I just fell in love (again not literally) with this song. I LOVE the message of this song and the beat of it so much. Every time I turn this song on I never want it to stop playing. Yes, it's THAT GOOD. Sadly, we don't get a wonderful scene with this song playing during it, as this song just plays during the movie's ending credits. But, you can be sure that I watched those credits til the very end just so I could hear this amazing song. This song is just so full of hope and it's very impactful, which is also why I love it. Lyrically, this song is all about that of unity and compassion. As she sings, "We have a choice to build or destroy/ To fight or to come together/ Love is a bridge and trust is a gift/ We give it and it gets better". Just like the movie itself, the overall message/theme of this song is that it's okay for people to have differences. That we should still be able to live together in peace and harmony with people who are not the same as ourselves, no matter what. That message about trusting one another and having unity despite our differences is also really relatable, especially in the world that we are living in today. This song just delivers such a powerful and inspiring message, just full of wisdom for listeners. This song really touches my heart. It's also catchy and really fun to sing along to. Definitely a song I will never forget and always want to play on repeat.

#1 "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas by Judy Kuhn (1995)

This is my MOST favorite and the BEST Disney Princess film song EVER! I know you already heard me talk a little bit about what makes this song so special to me in my last post, but let me just add to that the many other reasons why I LOVE this song so much. Besides it being a song that I grew up dancing and singing to because of my older sister, this song is just still the best ever because it's message still holds up to this day and it's just the most beautiful song ever. Although, it makes me super emotional sometimes to listen to, I honestly could play this song all the time and never get tired of it. There's just something about this song that hits deep in my soul and I can't say that about a lot of songs. It definitely makes me feel a lot different than all the other songs on this list, in a very good way. Lyrically, this pop ballad is all about respecting nature and respecting people from other cultures different from your own. I mean who can't get behind that message? It is a very deep, thought-provoking song. This song is performed by Pocahontas in the movie when she is confronting John Smith and his Eurocentrism. As again, she sings about the wonders of the earth and nature and the spirit within all living things. As she is trying to encourage him (John Smith) to not think of them as just things that he can conquer or own but rather as beings to respect and live in harmony with. Also, through this song, she is telling him to accept humans who are different in appearance and culture and to learn from them. I just think the lyrics of this song are so clever. One of my favorite verses of the song being when she sings,

You think the only people who are people

Are the people who look and think like you

But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger

You'll learn things you never knew you never knew

I mean how true is that? Very true. I feel like a lot of people these days could use a message like this song gives to them. This song is fairly slow obviously, because again, it's a ballad which I love. But I also really love the emphasis of the wind and string instruments in the song. This song is not only the BEST Disney Princess film song ever written but also the MOST IMPORTANT one ever written. The message of this song should never be forgotten or slept on.

Well, that concludes my ranking of The Top 20 Greatest Disney Princess Film Songs Of All Time. I really enjoyed creating this post for you and I hope that you got even just a little bit of joy while reading it. This was way harder than I thought it was initially going to be, trying to pick and rank the top 20 best songs from all the Disney Princess films' soundtracks. I switched some of these songs around a lot trying to decide where I felt they truly belonged on this ranking, but I finally got it down to the ones I think are truly the least and most best, or at least my least and most favorite. But, these are just my opinions of these songs and I would love to know what you think about them. So, comment down below your favorite song from a Disney Princess film and come Back to Disney soon for more!💜👑🎵𝆕𝅗𝅥𝅘𝅥
